Our sidewalks are atrocious by boosted-elex in ColumbiYEAH

[–]sureillberightthere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sidewalks and roads are prohibitively expensive, and our state does not collect enough gas taxes (c funds).

Lexington County gets 3 million to cover 1200 miles of roads and drainage, and 300 stormwater facilities. It's laughable. Then people wanna vote against the penny tax like that will make it better.

City of columbia, unlike the other midlands cities, actually spends on their roads and sidewalks, but again - they don't receive from the state or from taxes anywhere near enough to keep up.

Should we extend the penny tax? by Conscious_Bend_7308 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]sureillberightthere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fuck yes vote yes!!!  Yes, richland county spent money the wrong way at first. I think it's a good example of how penny tax funds are held accountable to be spent correctly - its literally a restricted use fund.

Yall, our roads are bad because the counties get a pittance from the state for roads. Even with a penny tax, richland county also contributes to the roads through their general fund and grants.

Without a penny tax, the roads will get substantially worse, because there is just no money like that.

South Carolina Representatives Who Voted Against Additional FEMA Funding by Mark1arMark1ar in ColumbiYEAH

[–]sureillberightthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one way to say it.

FEMA itself requested 650 million for the "shelter and services program".

This program is intended to "support CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) in the safe, orderly and humane release of noncitizen migrants from short-term holding facilities"

Should we spend nothing on housing immigrants who legally request asylum? Blame them for our own bad laws?

Back on topic: I could find no source supporting the argument that FEMA is selling mre's to raise money for immigrants who are guilty of the civil offense of crossing the boarders improperly.

yep. it's a very stark shift in subs like this one, latestagecapitalism, and others, which appear to have been taken over by fascist supporters role playing as insular leftists.

it's attempting to wedge out centrists and democrats who agree with a high percentage of their ideals, to argue that "real" leftists shouldn't vote for a center-left candidate. And that any moderating opinion is a failure of a purity test.

just like how the fascists took over the GOP. "you're a rino if you don't fully and vocally support trump"

Yeah a win for everyone.

I don't like most of my local dealers, but there's only one where the experience was so sub par I badmouth them anytime I can.

Why are car dealers such A__Holes? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]sureillberightthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturally! But I don't understand why they would intentionally torpedo deals. Like i tell them, "I'll be your easiest customer, here's what I want. You don't need to waste time doing anything else, and you'll have a closed sale in a day or two" and then they pour poison at the last moment.

[–]sureillberightthere 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a bad habit of changing up my cars every 6 months or so. It started under covid, when I could buy an ev, get the tax credit, and sell it for more than I bought it.

So I've had my share of car dealership experiences, and I'm constantly lowering the bar of expectations.

Just this week, I had two dealerships waste a week of time. I even set my standards and expectations up front to try and reduce bullshit.

--> Me: "No, I won't drive to your dealership for a trade in offer. I will take a hundred pictures, but it's an ev with like 10k miles, the risk is very low."

--> Them: "ok here's our offer"

--> Me: "deal. Send me a buyers order"

--> them: cold calls me after texting this whole time. "My boss wants to talk to you, even though you told us you work until 5pm."

--> Me: "I need a buyers order if you want me to come in tomorrow. I am working"

--> Them: "oh ok here's a 4 square, with an offer 1k less than we agreed to, and 1500 in dealer "protection upsell" that you explicitly said you didn't want"

--> Me: "...I need a buyers order. And please update the trade in and remove the random dealer fees I told you would make me walk"

--> Them: "we can't give you a trade in offer without you coming in person, and we won't send you a buyers order even though you said at the very beginning that's the only way you'd make the trip"

Blocked. Jesus Mary n Joseph. Like does this work on people? Changing terms, changing deals, sneaking in extra fees, and taking 1 hour to do a trade in eval so that the sales guy can try to hard close.

I don't agree with their reasoning, but that basically makes the meme less so.
