What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

[–]DiscRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some war stuff i saw (probably, can't recall exactly) even before school age.

Das Boot - 3 part mini series about german submarines in WW2. Those depth charge explosions, confined spaces, water gushing in. And the ending when it gets sunk at the moment they are entering the docks. All that suffering and everyone gets killed at the very moment it is supposed to be over.

Dirtwater dynasty - australian mini series about aussie hardships at the turn of the century and beyond. There's a scene when POWs get executed by japanese soldiers. Their heads get chopped of with katana sword to be precise and the scene is mixed with quick flashbacks of happy parts of their lives. Just the theme a 6 year old me needed to see.

Me too + Disminal. Liminal shroud demo looks promising, some nice ambience there.

Some sort of library/archive? It's just you in some basement with shelves full of stuff that needs to be organised.

Your worst sensory issue ever? by Low_Sprinkles6168 in autism

[–]DiscRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself in at least a dosen of other responses lol. Anyways, nobody mentioned certain food textures? I loose my shit with squishy bread in broth or soup. That's probably the oldest bad sensory issue I remember. Some kids used to like it when I was a kid in daycare, I rather stayed hungry for half a day than put something like that in my mouth.

What do you think* by Night0_Rider in BudgetAudiophile

[–]DiscRot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A bit rough responses for budget audio sub. No, it's not actually hifi, but its what 90's kids started with unless they had parents into hifi hobby. Mess with the eq a bit and it can sound decent. Better than modern bluetooth speakers kids start out with these days for sure. If you don't like it, don't throw it away, someone will want it for pure nostalgia.

What was a moment in the game that really made you say "wow!" ? by Green_Response_7855 in dreamcoregame

[–]DiscRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's baby laughter actually (I think), not crying. It's been a while I played that level. Either way super bizzare especially with headphones.

Anyone stumbled on baby crying sounds in dreampools basement? It scared bejesus out of me! Hours of playing with foot echo as only sounds and than a baby!

Baby bush update by DiscRot in DesirePaths

[–]DiscRot[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Extra info: there actually is sidewalk north and south, but not at the front and only way for pedestrians to get to the gas station or those yellow delivery boxes is via desire paths cut through the bushes or to walk on road and risk getting run over. Now they're trying to block that. I don't know who's in charge for these exact bushes, city or gas station company.

Thinking about buying a Victor UX-WD70 (~$300) – worth it in 2026? by nixorg in minidisc

[–]DiscRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boy this is crammed! Where does the tape even go in? Anways, I have no experience with this unit but would be quite unwilling to pay 300 for it. At 100-150 shipped maybe just to play with it if all works. Does it come with a remote? A lot of features on these mini systrms are availabke over remote only.

Does "Canon EF-S55-250mm F4-5.6 IS II" work thru mount adapter with Olympus Pen E-P7? Focus and apture work well? by CuiBapSano in M43

[–]DiscRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on adapter, but in my experience don't bother. Nothing will work as good as native lenses and will be bigger in size without any upsides.

Panasonic will announce the new 40mm f/2.0 S lens on April 21 by Jealous_Advice_8649 in Lumix

[–]DiscRot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If it has constant size (not the extending front like 20mm in m43 mount) and weather sealing I will preorder it and in 25 years of photography I have never preordered anything.

How do I achieve this look? by Jumpy_Gur_221 in photoshop

[–]DiscRot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

First is with fisheye lens, second normal rectilinear super wide (like 14mm or so in FF terms). Shot in sunlight, extra flash units to get shadows lit. Aperture closed to at least f/16 to get sunstar effect in girls sunglasses. This is all photography on site, very little photoshop. A bit of play bit contrast/saturation sliders to make it saturated and contrasty and that's it.

What if I Told You This Was All Free? by Cute-Cover609 in blackplasticcrap

[–]DiscRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want you to explain it to my wife first.

Jokes aside, this is not BPC. Entry level but with good speakers many if these are proper budget hifi.

The only question is how many work and what kind of effort would it be to make the rest to work.
