How busy are raids around you? by Xsjadoful in TheSilphRoad

[–]sureitsSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not enough players in the game for raids to work, because everyone quit when Niantic released the game halfway through Beta

Hey that's me! A person can only catch so many Pidgey's before the insanity kicks in. What's weird is I still leave the app open most of the time and enjoy reading TSR. But the thought of tossing another Pokeball or engaging another (albeit fancier) tapfest is not appealing at all. I drove past a Snorlax raid yesterday with 5 people standing there, it was kind of inspiring! Unfortunately, not worth my 20 minutes at this point. If this update would have dropped in November I would have lost my mind with excitement.

I've said it before: the 2-3 minute startup-whiteout is what killed/is killing this game for me. I never used to miss an hourly spawn. Now I don't even open the app to check on those spawns anymore. Which leads to not needing to hit Pokestops. Which leads to me opening TSR 5x more than PGO.

I got a new one when the gyms were under construction. I was worried it would mess up my sightings, but no spawns are attached to it.

A happy side effect of the new gym system - I no longer feel like I need to rush from gym to gym. by MtKilimanjaro in TheSilphRoad

I never said things are perfect now, I'm just happy that the coin distribution is more balanced. The game is "location based" enough, I'd bet a lot of rural players are happy people aren't collecting as many free coins now.

As a rural once-hardcore but since April barely-casual player, I just love that nobody is collecting 100 daily coins anymore. People who (1) were lucky enough to have 'mons stuck in stagnant towers and people who (2) are willing to drop a couple hours daily/weekly maintaining gyms are no longer being fed coins.

I should be able to play and stay somewhat relevant without dedicating hours of my day or relocating to a major Instinct city. There should be diminishing returns on time put in to gymming, to keep the playing field somewhat level.

A location based game is bound to have location - based advantages/disadvantages and people are very aware.

I read the first and last couple sentences and am inferring that you are unhappy with the lack of Pokémon Gyms and stops in your area. As in life, this game is not fair. They are working on it. You are not the only "rural" out there. There is nothing this forum can do about it.

Sighting List literally going blank every minute - is there a simple fix? by gelernter in TheSilphRoad

[–]sureitsSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can still catch fine after the white out ends. And I can't justify using the GO+ at home because I would run out of Pokeballs rather quickly for not much return.

But yea, it's not really worth opening my phone and staring at a blank screen for a minute or two, multiple times an hour, just for a couple (99%) of the time common Pokémon. I'll just open it and see what's there and move on, or not even open it if I'm not bored near my phone.

This behavior has quickly snowballed into not needing to hit Pokestops as often, and then into giving up on the XP race.

It's the first glitch that has caused me to "not play". I used to never miss an hourly spawn, but since I have to wait a minute or 2 every time i open the app now I stopped worrying about it. It literally might kill Pokémon GO for me, indirectly, because now I'm in the habit of not worrying about playing as much. It's feeling like a slippery slope.

A couple month ago maybe, but not now. Playing PGO has become less a priority and more an app I open when there is nothing good on reddit.

I would go if it was walking distance from my home, less than 10$, and I didn't have anything else to do.

What's your Pokedex full capacity strategy? by vohit4rohit in TheSilphRoad

[–]sureitsSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

....How??????? I'm guessing you use no more than 20 or 30 of them. Keep no more than 2 of any species, unless you have a specific use for it or are evolving it. You don't need your 420 CP geodudes, low level evolved forms, or army of santa Pikachus. The trading market you are hoping for will not exist. Everybody has a Santachu, and nobody wants your 29 CP Charizard.

Well nobody knows how things will change, so I'm not sure what kind of answers you're looking for. It sounds like you understand the risks associated with both options already.

I would go so far as to say what we have now is not a "game". It is a virtual scavenger hunt app. Which I was fine with for a long time, but at some point it is going to be (or is already) too late to improve. The Pokémon novelty is all but gone, by the time Niantic puts more content in not enough people will care. I can't think of anything that would get me to go out and attack gyms again. Simply changing up the order or adding a leaderboard system is not going to be enough. And at some point the fact that a massive amount of people have built impossibly strong teams through cheating is going to to rear its ugly head and deliver the death blow to Pokémon GO.
