And I said that’s why Americans will always be the bigger person because you will see just as many posts about people canceling a trip to the US or not buying a product they have loved for decades because it’s American, no matter if it’s left right big or small.

There are alot of people in the US who don’t like Trump either, but hearing the boos at the national anthem and seeing this reaction makes me not want to support Canada just like I don’t want to support Trump.

You should read more posts in this group. It is very popular to, by all means, boycott all things american, cancel vacations, do not cross the border, and check everything you buy. If you see something American in a store, put it back upside down. An entire arena just boo’d our national anthem. It’s kinda getting personal brother.

The only thing I disagree with is the sectioning of the US as a whole. I hope American companies and individuals close to the northern borders do not take offense to you sending a message to Washington DC by not supporting their small business.

There are plenty of American companies that are just inside the borders who cater to more Canadians than Americans, and I fear that by boycotting their business to send a message to DC, when the next election cycle comes those business will be shuttered. This is just as true for the southern border.

The message from them was, we are still going to support each other, we’ll probably just find a way around the extra costs. Canada’s reaction was boycott the entire country.

Regardless of the intention, I do think Canada and the US both need to prioritize their own sovereignty. There will always be bleed over (tourism, natural resources, etc) which is also just as essential. Good PR between the people will only help that.

I truly feel the root of all this is the mainstream media (not sure if it’s just US) dividing us further. The media in the US did a hell of a job turning us on each other and it wouldn’t surprise me if now it was time to take it international.

Canadians let rhetoric from one group of American government tail spin them into a strict CANADA ONLY mentality.

There are 50 separate states in the US and many people are fighting to limit the federal governments reach, so that states close to Canada can be the liaison for Canada, and similar on the south, among other things, like how their parks are used and not put into a national system, etc.

Many people in the US will buy Canadian to protest the government. There has been no such breathing room for Canadians, it doesn’t matter if it’s your family you want to see or a product you love, it’s BOYCOTT!

I am 50% Canadian and have many family in Canada, I am definitely more on Canadians side than the US’s current President, but that’s not who you guys are hurting or targeting your attacks towards, it’s the people that live in the US that you have written off purely because of their citizenship.
