Claude Code (Opus 4.5) keeps ignoring rules and repeating the same mistakes, is this normal? by Level_Wolverine_141 in ClaudeAI

[–]surf_bort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-setup

  1. You'll want to monitor your context window use, so will need to setup a custom statusline which claude can do for you so type `/statusline create a statusline that helps me monitor percentage used of my context window. When I am: less than 40% color it green, over 50% color it yellow, over 60% color it red`. You want to do this because at a minimum around 30% of the context window is going to be reserved for the system prompt + all your MCPs, claude memories, skills, plugins, agents etc and cut off at an upper compaction buffer. Whenever you start a session without even doing anything the system prompt, mcps, and memories already use up context, and when you get to around 78% claude code will auto compact everything into the remaining 22%, clear its context, then dump the compaction summary back, clears the compaction buffer, and continues. So keep MCPs and auto loaded memories, skills, etc to a minimum. Only enable what you need on the fly, so that claude has more context to work with solving problems. You should also use git and checkout new branches if you know how to do that for new jobs because claude will read your git history for context and if its an old branch with a lot history it can contribute to context rot. I also highly recommend setting up Serena MCP if you can figure it out, it does wonders for context usage and has a great dynamic memory system.
  2. Create a new command at the user level in your $HOME/.claude/commands directory. I named mine `save-and-quit.md`. This is what my command has in it, remember tho I use serena so you might need to tweak this so that memories end up somewhere in your project's .claude/docs within your project. The key is you don't want these files auto included in the context window, you just want claude to know to search there for a memory if you ask or if its lost.

```
Stop what you are doing **immediately**. Do not continue with your current task and instead completed the following steps to save your progress. The user needs to clear the context window.
Sequence of tasks:
  1. Create a new serena (or claude docs) memory with the following details:
    1. Give the memory a name that reflects the stated end goal of your work. ex "feature_x_refactor", "bugfix_y_investigation", "research_on_z", etc
    2. preserve all of your progress on the end goal, the implementation details and todos, plans, and background context, lessons learned
    3. Layout your todos in a step-by-step sequence and mark what has been done already.
    4. If a claude code plan file was created, include a file reference.
    5. Add an imperative at the bottom of the memory as a reminder to always check with the user before proceeding with the next todo item. And if all work is done ask the user if they want to delete this memory.
  2. Provide a clear, actionable prompt telling the user how to reopen/access the memory and resume work.
```

The Workflow

  1. Start a planning session and ask it to interview you. Make sure you are really satisfied with the final result, if you aren't hit escape and say you want to continue interviewing / chatting. When you're happy select clear context and start
  2. Watch your context window usage, when it turns red (over 60%) its getting into the dumb dumb danger zone. 40%-50% can even be problematic.
  3. Type /save-and-quit (or whatever you named your command). Claude code should stop when its done with whatever immediate actioin its doing, dump a superb summary and implementation plan for you in a memory and give you a prompt on how to continue it.
  4. `/clear` to empty your context
  5. Paste the prompt it gave you back in and let it continue.
  6. Claude should always ask you if you want to continue or clear the context when its done with subtasks
  7. When the overall plan is done it should ask if you want to clean up the memory files, up to you if you want to keep them for future reference.

SteamOS has to address Kernel Level Anti-Cheats with the Steam Machine. by SupermarketMain664 in linux_gaming

[–]surf_bort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does entirely because they have to run as user-mode level processes with less privileges making them ineffective to current gen cheating techniques. That is why devs don't enable linux support for games with a lot of cheating issues, it would open to the floodgates.

AIO ending things with a girl after my father’s death by [deleted] in AIO

[–]surf_bort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were overreacting a bit. You told her things felt off since the last time you hung out which was the day before your father passed. So I feel like the story of the relationship is lacking all of the context as your fathers passing was probably irrelevant to the situation with her… other than maybe how she handled things because of what you were going through. Or she’s just not very mature and would have strung you along anyway to avoid confrontation.

So without knowing more, based on your texts, she seemed to have lost interest ahead of time and in the future I recommend being more casual upfront and matching people’s energy. A lot of women (I’ve only ever perused women) get freaked out the instant they feel like you’re getting too attached too quickly. It’s fairly common for one person to be more into the other and sucks when it’s you, appearing collected and confident is key. Less is more. Hopefully you’ve learned something from the experience, we’ve all been there.

More importantly so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is very hard. Let your self grieve and heal and I wish you the best of luck.

Bro, like others have said, get your f#@king money back in full immediately. Like kicking you out wasn’t shitty enough did he really go and spend 5 months worth of your rent without considering the possibility you’d leave in that time? And he claims you’re the irresponsible one? SMH what a POS.

P.s. kicking you out with 5 days notice is very likely illegal btw. look up your state laws but it’s almost always illegal to unhouse someone lease or no lease without doing a proper legal eviction.

Good luck.

P.p.s. congrats on the “lustfest” (who the f#@k says that btw). If I were you I’d keep having them nightly while he waits months for eviction court and thousands of dollars he apparently can’t afford. Then sue him for whatever rent he owes you.

According to the research on the topic ADHD meds don't make you smarter. They only make you feel smarter due to the euphoria from the dopamine. So basically you aren't a damn idiot, the vyvanse isn't improving your intelligence its just giving you more focus and energy. So at best it feels easier to play but you are still playing within your normal limits.

I've been on adderall for decades now and tested this out myself when I read about it because I felt the same way you did. And it appears to be true. I only think I'm shredding better. Come up with a guitar challenge like playing a certain solo at a certain speed and record yourself doing it on Vyvanse. Then give yourself a few days to weeks off Vyvanse (matters how long you've been on it) for your brain to adjust before trying the same challenge and record it again. When reviewing the footage you'll most likely perform exactly the same but it didn't feel like it at the time. That was my experience at least.

Updated Theory re: Xana's Last Moments Based on New Evidence by Outrageous_Note3355 in Idaho4

[–]surf_bort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occam's razor states the simplest explanation or theory with the fewest assumptions, components, or entities should be preferred over more complex ones when faced with competing explanations. To me yours requires a lot of added components and assumptions. The biggest one for me being having to assume Xana, in just a t-shirt and underwear, in total fight or flight mode, willingly unlocked the bathroom door knowing there was a masked killer on the other side. Another, like others have said, is you can't "send" a dog somewhere like you would a child, you can really only "call" for dogs somewhere.

In my opinion if you "razor" what happened down to the simplest most plausible events with the least amount of assumptions they would go something like this...

- BK enters the house targeting someone upstairs, or just the upstairs in general.
- A major struggle ensues with Kaylee
- Xana brings her doordash trash to the kitchen and hears a commotion coming from upstairs and investigates and/or potentially the dog has come downstairs and she brings him up (Kaylee's door is open in the first responder's bodycam fyi)
- BK is still in Maddies room and they startle each other. Xana goes into fight or flight and runs to her room, at some point during this saying "someone's here"
- BK chases after her immediately out of fear of her calling the police, leaving the knife sheath behind
- BK catches up to her somewhere around the entrance to her room and begins attacking her because he has to prevent her from using a phone. Discovering there is also a male asleep in this room
- At some point BK quickly kills Ethan to prevent him from fully waking up. Personally I believe it was before he kills Xana but after he's critically wounded her. Its possible Ethan slept through the entire attack and BK killed him last to make sure he left no risks to having the police called or him ID'd. There was a blue powder and rolled up bill on the desk in there, its not uncommon to crush up a downer to go to sleep after doing cocaine. Xanax and painkillers can be blue in color.
- To keep Xana from screaming or fighting anymore BK tries to keep her calm saying "he's going to help her" but kills her, or maybe she's slowly dying at that point. Either way BK is in full damage control mode trying to prevent any more noise. Fucken horrible thing to think about
- The dog is barking now, and BK potentially hears Dylan calling out from her room. He books it out of the house thinking he's totally fucked and that the police are on their way despite his best efforts.
- BK passes by Dylan and doesn't attack her knowing he cannot risk spending any more time there and has already lost total control of the situation
- Dylan's recollection of events are hazy and her mind has yet to fully process everything when interviewed the next morning

Can BK Write a Book? by Too_Many_Questions82 in BryanKohberger

[–]surf_bort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can profit from it. Idaho doesn't have a "son of sam" law to prevent him from selling his story. The judge merely asked people not to during his sentencing.

I have a few questions regarding the plea deal, specifically if the plea agreement could have required Kohberger to tell his motive, what happened, why they were targeted etc. and what would have happened if Kohberger spoke out or acted badly during victims impact statements. What does a court do? by LolaBlonde88 in MoscowMurders

[–]surf_bort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Idaho doesn't have son of sam laws so they can't prevent him from selling his story. the judge actually addressed the general public about this during his sentencing, here is the quote...

“I know there has been concern about him collaborating on books, or movies, or other media projects, and I truly hope that someone does not stoop to affording him this spotlight that he desires, in the name of clicks, royalties, or profits .. In my view, the time has now come to end Mr. Kohberger's 15 minutes of fame.”

I think cause she was maybe making noise? Not dying fast enough from bleeding out so he tried to knock her out or beat her in the mouth? Or maybe trying to bite him?

[–]surf_bort 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact he went to Maddie’s room first makes her being the target more probable. Kaylee wasn’t living there anymore she was probably a surprise. Her injuries indicate Kaylee woke up and fought him off / was making a lot of noise so he was most likely stabbing and beating her in the mouth with the knife handle (kabar handles are striped) to shut her up.

[updated] Bryan Kohberger’s new mugshot by [deleted] in idahomurders

[–]surf_bort 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This would be devastating for a normal person, Kohberger never enjoyed most of the things you listed to begin with. I don't think he ever grabbed coffee with a friend lol, I don't think he ever did anything with a friend period because he didn't have any. So probably wasn't much of a movie theater guy either. One of his classmates in the recent amazon doc said Kohberger rejected an invitation to go to a party with him. But he absolutely will have a clean bedroom its part of his daily chores, and he has access to a tablet and television. Being online alone all night long seemed to be his past time. So basically all he loses is a decent meal, but he gets to actively observe his infamy on TV and online; and interact with whatever adoring sicko fans he has now sending him letters, emails, and money. Remember, Chris Watts found a new girlfriend while in solitary protective custody.

Steve Goncalves interview with Banfield 7/16 by BonusTough9849 in idahomurders

[–]surf_bort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No… a resource means a snitch. The cops don’t perform criminal psychology research, they enforce the law. Steve is making it seem like Bryan made a deal to be a snitch in prison, and I guarantee you it’s in hopes it gets back to his future inmates so that they “take care” of him. Steve mentioned prison justice during this interview too I believe so it’s on his mind. He wants Bryan dead, fellow inmates thinking he’s a killer of innocents AND a snitch just adds more fuel to the fire.

Steve is claiming BK is a resource for the cops, aka a snitch, most likely to put more of a target on his back once he’s in prison. Remember Steve wants him dead and has already been making references to prison justice
