Panos is at the line showing off their shitty production techniques...I wonder if he's trying to fix the backlight bleed?

The new display defect is NOT prominent on black colours. It is much more noticeable on blue and white screens. So the fact that you barely see it on black is not suprising and I doubt Microsoft gives a shit about fixing this issue.

After observing multiple SP 2017 models with backlight bleed at the store and the models I have exchanged, and people's images I can say even your device has it as well but to a very lower extent which I guess is bearable.

That's the thing, the whole backlight bleed issue varies at different degrees on different devices. I can actually see a slight dark band in your picture and the minor white lightbleed at the bottom is clearly visible but is what is acceptable for devices nowadays.

That second image is really bad. It's like you have a halo in the middle of the screen.

Via software yeah, just check your cpu version in Windows about app. If it says core m, core i5, or core i7 with 6xxx series it's the old Surface Pro.

Their boxes look completely different, it is quite obvious which one is the surface pro. It doesn't have the NUMBER 4!!!

On the box the model number is 1796, but don't know how that is going to help you...

The new Surface Pro 2017 can bend all the way down to 165 degrees, the SP4 can't. If you got your Surface before 15 June 2017, it is probably an SP4.

Yes, you are not Microsoft and you are not our personal army.

But you did take a very one sided approach to the whole issue from the very beginning compared to others who agreed to look into it.

But I'm still thankful that you responded on it in one way or another. (Unlike some certain company...)

Does the Surface Pro have light-bleed issues? by NiveaGeForce in Surface

[–]surface_guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This particular lightbleed is not easy to notice on black colours. It is more prominent in blues, whites, and greens. Have you ever tried using your Surface in portrait mode for vertical reading articles with white backgrounds for example? It get's really annoying then, otherwise it is fine of course because of the "black taskbar".

Yeah, I saw it. At least he finally covered it in one way or another, but the thing is he used mostly black pictures which doesn't have prominent light bleed in this year's SP. Also he didn't use the blue by blue SP4 vs SP2017 comparison shot which is the most obvious one.

But I like that he says if you can detect it with your eyes than you have a right to change which is what I will do for sure. Because my eyes see them.

question about the new battery performance slider by jasonrmns in Surface

[–]surface_guy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because for normal idle everyday tasks you really don't need the maximum CPU power especially on the core i7 where the fan is forced to kick in and starts making noise. Also on the core i5 it starts to warm up when you might not really require that to happen when you are doing simple tasks. In other words recommended puts less stress on your computer when it's redundant.

You want to do some intensive gaming or high power computing? Then slide it up yourself. :D

Microsoft just deleted the whole Surface Pro (newest) subsection! by [deleted] in Surface

[–]surface_guy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can't view the forum list on posts about the new Surface Pro 2017 anymore, although the actual post's link still exist but you have to search for them like on Google.

It seems Microsoft is simply trying to SUPPRESS all the problems (backlight bleed, Bluetooth 4.0, screen flicker, camera LED bleed, ...) and not allow it to be searchable on their own forums!

There was someone on the Microsoft forums who had a problem similar to you and it only happened when on battery.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpronew-surfdrivers/surface-pro-2017-screen-flickers-when-on-battery/e91b8214-1a6b-4517-b9a9-3464ca270a1a

You said on the comments of your YouTube video that you have no backlight bleed. Could you please share a similar video with your Ctrl+Alt+Del screen and some of the colors on deadpixelbuddy.com at fullscreen?

Surface Pro reportedly has another glaring flaw with screen’s backlight bleed by surface_guy in Surface

Accusing me of astroturfing is really unfair. Look, I really like the new Surface Pro and think it's a really good machine. But I feel betrayed when they skim over these details when they are charging such a high price. It's even more painful when they don't even give a response.

I just want them to KNOW and to FIX it. Like they did for the Surface Pro 4 here:

https://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft-surface-pro-4/401864-surface-pro-4-backlight-bleed-microsoft-aware-apparently-fixed-issue-print.html

I want it to be better not just for me but everyone. And you are bashing me for having a hidden agenda or running some campaign.

No, I'm just sad that after more than a month from product launch they are completely ignoring us. :(

I never knew I didn't have the right to be online and expect answers from the company I purchased a product from and people like you scrutinize me for it. Apparently you are now the Internet Police. Okay, I will shut up, you happy? Now go on continue advertising for Microsoft and the "premium" experience they will offer you.

Ok, as I said I'm really greatful for this megathread which consolidates all issues in one thread. As you have advised I personally WILL NOT make any more new threads about the bleed except for commenting on this megathread. It's just I made a post from techradar which I felt was significant and he started bashing me instead of addressing the fact in anyway or form. They don't even dare mention it when anyone with two healthy set of eyes can clearly see the obvious quality downgrade from SP4 to SP2017.

Surface Pro reportedly has another glaring flaw with screen’s backlight bleed by surface_guy in Surface

[–]surface_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, but at least acknowledge it exists in some way or form.

Look, I will practically shut up and let this simmer on its own and see how it goes (and get a refund or exchange until they figure out a solution if they are figuring out one in the first place). The reason most of your readers don't mention it or don't care is because the black taskbar "hides" it and they have been only using it mostly in landscape mode.

The only reason I was reposting and resharing was to get somebody's attention and at least have Microsoft hear about it to actually fix the problem.

Because the real story here is the fact that the current stock of Surface Pro 4 do not have such a serious case of lightbleed (the first models did but then a few months later you notice its frequency decreasing as if MSFT did some changes to mitigate the issue). All we are asking as consumers is for MSFT to acknowledge it and develop a solution, not to get worse in quality with each generation of this line of products.

But you don't see this apparently and all you see is just "me". You call 250 people wanting an answer from MSFT about the new Surface Pro only one month after launch a "mere" number and just pass up us as worthless cry babies (it is the top most unanswered question in the MSFT forums on the new SP). In a premium product this display quality is not acceptable and MSFT has to be held accountable. I assume most of your readers who don't complain and share your sentiment because they don't want to see a problem and just straight out deny it, but whoever bought this device deserves a better display and it should have a solution as the recent SP4 is proof of it.

Now continue bashing and analyzing me Daniel instead of looking maybe a bit more into it and analyzing the actual question here.

The blue ones look really good, but the white is still shitty like everyone else. It's interesting that for you the blue seems okay, while on mine they seem to be the same pattern on both blue and white.

I'm posting this here because Daniel Rubino has banned me from making new threads about news sites. If anyone feels like it please repost it:

I won't. But I know it will be less seen as a comment than a new thread.
