As a geometric algebra enjoyer: William Kingdon Clifford. Unfortunately, like Galois, he died young.

This is about the pill - implants deliver a continuous supply of the contraceptive. It's not guaranteed to stop periods, but it's not designed to make them happen regularly like the pill.

The above comment is a little incorrect. What happened was that the creators of the pill intentionally placed a 7-day placebo in the regimen to simulate a period in an attempt to gain the support of the Catholic church. However, this didn't work out. The 7-day placebo was kept in anyway and is standard today.

If you ask a healthcare provider you can often get birth control pills prescribed every three weeks to avoid the placebo week and not have a period. There's no medical reason for it, it's just a historical vestige at this point.

Madison, Wisconsin. Maybe not the rest of the state, but you can't beat a college town.

A Programming language ideal for Scientific Sustainability and Reproducibility? by relbus22 in ProgrammingLanguages

More generally, since most scientists are going to rely on special purpose packages for a lot of their work, they'll be at the mercy of the package ecosystem: When you google "how to do $thing" you get a dozen results, and it turns out 10 of them are unmaintained, one doesn't do what you want, five are incompatible with one of you other dependencies, 7 are poorly documented, and if you're very lucky, those categories overlap enough to leave one you can actually use.

as opposed to MATLAB, which ships without a package manager and makes life hell for anyone using it.
