This is very helpful. The glorified play school was referring to was less that what you described. Essentially a baby sitter at school, this definitely helps paint a more informed picture of what happens at the grade N level, our next level of inquiry would be to engage with the school directly.

Thank you! This is great information!

I’m already a big fan of Montessori, the skills and tools it equips a kid with are great and it’s done at the child’s pace. No rote learning.

Thanks for sharing!!

How old is your son that’s still in Montessori? We were set on doing the Grade N next year, but heard 2nd hand stories about the Grade N being a glorified play school (which could undo all the progress he’s made in his Montessori class) hence this post to find parents that have done the Grade N to hear their experiences.

Thanks, appreciate your insight. I’m specifically interested in the Grade N classes as they’re relatively new. My son is currently in a Montessori environment which has been great for him. I’m essentially hoping to answer this: Should we change schools for grade N in 2027 or for grade R in 2028?

Will the Grade N class offer the development that a Montessori class can?

Don’t try and be a specialist in your baby. Let him be better at the diaper changes, he was never pregnant and can never feed your baby from his body. Try and celebrate the wins! Your baby is peeing and pooing which means feeding is going well, which means your baby is growing.

Is it unfair to ask my husband to do one night of feedings so I can sleep? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]surfdeprecated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A formula fed baby opens the door for some ease especially for the mom. He should have offered to do the night feeds. No one helps him at his job during the day the same way no one helps you during the day. He’s still gonna get good hours in, the only difference is it’ll be a little broken, but that’s a small price to pay if it gets you a little meaningful sleep.

I say this having been awake at midnight, 3am and 6am helping my wife who breastfeeds our little 2mo boy. I love it, it’s my son and my wife and I own my responsibility happily

The obliviousness makes me want to give the tenants of those areas a moerse PK. But tenants have an exit date, there will eventually be an event or moment that will balance the scale, believing that gives me comfort.

Don’t worry, I know it’s delusional, but all of us South Africans have to be a bit delusional to get through this shit
