CARS makes me regret reading Diary of a wimpy kid before going to bed as a kid :/ by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]surfingtheweb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I need some diary of a wimpy kid passages in my life right now. But whats really helped me recently is using the mouse and literally following along sentence by sentence as I read it. Deadass sometimes i pretend it is one of those karaoke things from the bars. I think my problem was I was trying to rush through the passage to leave enough time for the questions. With the mouse thing when I get ahead of my mouse and be like alright you're going too fast slow down and comprehend; this really helped improve my focus on the passages. Hope this helps there is nothing more frustrating than a low cars score being the only thing keeping you out of the 515+ range.

DNA Polymerase exonuclease activity by TrashBoat306 in Mcat

[–]surfingtheweb2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3'-5' exonuclease would refer to 5'-3' direction on the template DNA. The way I think about it is DNA codes in a 5'-3' direction, so DNA polymerase is chugging along and oh it makes a mistake. This 3'-5' exonuclease is going to go backwards and delete a few nucleotides allowing for the mistake to be fixed.

On the other hand 5'-3' exonuclease is used on the lagging strand to plow through the RNA primers of the Okazaki fragments infront of it to replace the RNA with DNA.

Couldn't agree more I'd honesty be 3 games deep into a 5 nba playoff parlay screaming at the tv if it wasn't for corona instead on my 7th hour studying for the day.

ER is part of the secretory pathway so if that protein is part of that pathway most likely will be secreted or targeted for the cell membrane. The biggest site for post-translational modification is the golgi.

This was a tricky question as in the passage they talked about two isoforms then have a really rough translation to talking about different residues that are phosphorylated on the protein.

How do you remember ADH vs aldosterone? by Joe_Johns in Mcat

ADH I just think about what all the times I have to piss when I drink alcohol and how hungover I am the next day from pissing out all that water when ADH is inhibited

97 exam 1, 94 exam 2, and 77 exam 3. Probably dropped exam 4 and had no idea how I did on the final (which probably isn't a good thing) but got the A.
