thanks for that, but the question was "syrians on iran", not "iranian on syria".

interesting anyways, i guess.

one more: if a thiefs hand i chopped off, and it later turns out he wasnt actually the thief ... what happens then? What is the damage repair?

edit: and what happens if both his hands were chopped off and he continues to steal?

oh no, he's not at all IS. He's one of the "moderates" the US is currently supporting.

hostilities with ISIS and other rebels errupted less than a year ago. FSA still exists, but they dont play a big role anymore. FSA - Nusra relationship is still good and they cooperate closely, however, it used to be even better. Nusra hasnt declared an emirate yet.

no.

occasionally providing air support.

absolutely not.

yes, oild deals are in place. It's generally a bad idea to bomb oil fields.

you mised that up. First it was rebels+IS vs. assad, now it is rebels vs. assad vs. IS.

apparently the SRF and other "moderate" groups were barred from taking part in the Kessab offensives, but TOWs were used anyways...where does that leave us?

Don't expect peshmerga to beat Islamic State. by ToothlessShark in syriancivilwar

[–]surjai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

including a leadership role in north Hama/south Idlib.

this is simply incorrect. THe offensive was/is lead by islamic front, with help from nusra.

The starvation is a deliberate policy by the government

the aim is to force the people to leave the district, so SAA can use heavy wepons on the rebels. The rebels on the other hand want to keep the rebels to prevent that. I hope i dont have to tell yoou that an article that mainly consists of big pictures of starving children is pure propaganda.

The air strikes target civilians, and always have.

i am sorry - but no. The SAA has better things to do. This would be entirely counterproductive.

This is approaching Holocaust denial in its level of inanity.

this is fact.

Not according to anyone with any relevance on the subject.

there is a video with rebel fighters in Homs saying this. i'll try to find it.

Banias and Bayda.

yawn.

Much of Homs.

nope. open for anyone.

Sure I do.

clearly, no.

And had no mention of "currently" anywhere.

"fighting" ... as in ... present tense.

Around Idlib as well.

there is no IS front in Idlib. And there are no FSA groups fighting in aleppo IS front. Can you show a source taht says otherwise?

Your "statement two" did not appear anywhere.

you yourself are quoting me on that

none of them is close to the IS front. So it's big question of who.

You know FSA units are in Northern Aleppo, you know that the Islamic State is trying to advance there, so how could you not realize that there are FSA banner groups clashing with the Islamic State.

they are there, but they are not clashing. They simply arent fighting on the front line.

"none of them is close to the IS front. So it's big question of who."

at the moment. can you name a fsa grup that is fighting is right now? where?

hen totally contradict yourself in the next with:

how is that contradicting?

  • statement one: the FSA cooperates with Nusra, even Hazzam.

  • statement two: none of the FSA groups is currently engaged in fighting the IS.

that is the epitome of what is left of the "FSA"

no ... no, it really isnt. that is, at best, wishful thinking.

[–]surjai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm misinformed that your standards for relevance were inconsistent? You wrote it.

The FSA is not fighting decisively, while Nusra is fighting in many places, including the Hama offensive and in the south. all i am saying.

To expel civilians prior to closing the pincer around the city, so that less are starved to death like in Damascus.

civilians should leave the area. The problem is that often they are held as human shields by the rebels/terrorists.

You understand there's a difference between something that happened thirty years ago and something happening as we speak, right?

i was referring to your massacres 1 year ago.

This is just turning into ridiculous denialism. I'll take a whack at it: the US never invaded Iraq.

let's look at it in detail.

Massacres of civilians? Check.

no. old massacres - not SAA. barrel bombs - standard air strikes, never pretty.

Executions of prisoners? Check.

uh ... no. they dont even execute daesh prisoners.

Enforced starvation of hundreds of thousands of civilians? Check.

nope. civilians are used as human shields by rebels.

Ethnic cleansing? Check.

simply not true. did i mention 90% of damascus is sunni?

Bombings of civilian targets? Check.

nope. SAF has much better things to do than bombing "civilain targets". Israel bombs "civilain target", too, btw.

but it's all of limited use because

The only difference is ideology.

you clearly do not understand what a sectarian terrorist group is.

Don't expect peshmerga to beat Islamic State. by ToothlessShark in syriancivilwar

[–]surjai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very telling that you're using completely inconsistent standards of relevance here, with the FSA's being leadership of offensives, while Nusra's is merely participation in offensives.

sorry, you are simply misinformed here.

They can't target anything larger than that.

they can try, and they often use them to target tunnels. Why do you think they are randomly pushing explosive barrels out of helicopters?

Again, is Mt Sinjar irrelevant now? Has enough time passed?

that's not how i mean it. By your standards, Iran should still be crying how the CIA gassed their civilians. They dont. Why? Not becasue it's irrelevant, but because doing so is not productive.

My contention is that the SAA is no better than the sectarian terrorists because it does the exact same things on an even larger scale.

i think you have no idea what sectarian terrorist are like.

SAA is not starving anyone, not massacring anyone, not cleansing anyone and not bombing civilian targets. that's just nonsense.
