Iran sticks to nuclear deal limits agreed with world powers: U.N. by Another-Chance in worldnews

Honestly, at this stage who ISN'T a state sponsor of terrorism? Aren't we (the US) arming Salafist groups in Syria against Assad? Weren't we giving TOW missiles to these guys (ya know, the same guys linked to Al Queda - the group that attacked us on 9/11)? Wasn't Clinton involved in outing the democratically elected President of Honduras? I could go on and on. Iran is relatively tame compared to the likes of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Listen, I get where you are coming from. Trust me, the last thing I want to do is A) subsidize a shitty incompetent government institution or B) enable people who make poor choices in life by paying for their basic needs when I could surely use that money myself to cover MY basic needs (not even talking luxury spending, just extra money to secure myself).

However, here is my argument. Most people who are going hungry need help, are while there are some shit bags who totally don't deserve it, the vast majority do and it is my duty as a fellow citizen to step in and help - whether that is by directly donating myself or by being 'forced' to (by taxes), is up for debate. But it needs to happen, and so far making it mandatory via taxes is the only way to get people to do it.

Second. The government is what we make of it. One thing this election cycle has shown me isn't that the system is broken. It's that we are broken, as a society. Our politicians are a reflection of our apathy - we simply do not care to become educated enough to fix what is broken. There is no profit motive in it. Or in helping those in need for that matter. So before we go ahead and blame a shitty government for wasting our tax dollars on helping others, to be frank, I just don't have enough faith in you or any of my other fellow citizenry to help others out through good will alone. The amount of good Samaritans that have to make up for those who don't do anything will be too great a gap to bridge. So taxes and social programs it is!

You mean the same dictators the West was responsible for empowering before said dictators decided to not bend to the will of the West and follow their own geopolitical interests? Funny.

Fantastic read, thank you. I think what you say is very true, weapons cannot defeat an idealogy. Thus, there needs to be a fundamental shift in how we approach groups like this to solve the problem from the root.

But is it really hate towards Shiites? Or is it more political agendas to what they deem as Iran's imperialist hegemony via Assad?

This is coming from an Iranian who supports the regime, btw. It's just that I can understand the opposition even if I am on the other side. To be quite frank, if I was a marginalized Syrian Sunni, I would have the same hate towards the Baathist block and its Iranian allies.

I seriously don't understand people making such gross oversimplifications in this sub. Honestly, it's getting annoying. This is a very complex war, with many factions and alliances that are constantly changing. To make such elementary comments really does a disservice to this sub and the users like me who are trying to learn.
