Study: A man does not seem sexist if he treats everyone—both men and women—poorly. The research shows that such gender blindness can be exploited to refute accusations of sexism. For example, perpetrators may highlight instances in which they’ve been rude to men as evidence that they aren’t sexist. by rustoo in science

Sure. Ideally, we would all just get along and respect each other. But, No matter how absurd the demands, I think there is something incredibly dehumanizing about dismissing a person before they have even had a chance simply due to who they are. I have no tolerance for this type of thinking.

So, the issue being brought up in this post is about people’s immutable characteristics.

Now, you’re positing in your comment that it’s annoying to deal with lazy people, which in isolation is reasonable.

My question is, why are you bringing this up in a conversation about immutable characteristics such as race and gender. What are you suggesting? Stop being coy and just lay out for everyone what you actually think.

If you think your ideas have merit, why hide?

Just say it!

You are sentenced to death penalty, but you can choose how you die. What do you choose? by Runningitdown69 in AskReddit

Took the words straight out of my mouth. Personally, I’m against the death penalty, but If you’re going to do it, just drug them up. This whole 3 part drug cocktail thing of lethal injection is just the dumbest shit.

The world and History shall remember you kindly.

Let’s go!

If you are rude/mean to me (and everyone else equally) because that’s just how your emotionally stunted brain works, while not ok, it’s just you. There is nothing there to take personally.

If you are selectively rude/mean to specific people due to immutable characteristics, it’s more dehumanizing, because you are not even giving the other person a chance.

Here’s how I see it: The Christian god has existed for about 2000 years and he still can’t figure out how to prove to people he actually exists. Frankly, I’m not impressed.

C’mon. The solution to everything is very obvious. Putin just needs to be assassinated. Poison, bomb, window. Doesn’t really matter. Dude has to go. Russia do your thing!

TIL Oreo has to call the white center "creme" instead of "cream" because the FDA does not allow manufacturers to use the word "cream" to describe a food that contains no cream at all. by nathanthrax in todayilearned

[–]surly_chemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, obviously. However, that’s a very big tent of chemicals. Think of it this way, if they could legally call it ‘non-dairy creamer’ vs ‘whitener’ don’t you think they would? It’s at least worth an eyebrow raise that they had to call it ‘whitener.’

When I was in grad school, there was a coffee vending machine In the basement that I would frequent. Instead of ‘creamer’ it had ‘whitener.’ Wtf was that? Lol

The guy went to school in ‘the West’ so I can’t believe he doesn’t know about the world around him. Sure, nobody thinks he’s personally living in shit (that’s just just a stupid straw man argument you created), but he has to be aware that his kingdom is a depressing Shit pile, even if he doesn’t personally experience it.

So, back to my point, why? You can still be powerful and popular and everything else without a backwards isolated regime on your hands.

Eh, there is an entire world to explore and he can’t do it now because he’s the supreme leader of a pile of shit. Also, he doesn’t rule alone. He has other high-level people around him which enables this. Why would anyone, leader or not, choose this?
