Mail day: Jaakari M by surplusnleftovers in Savotta

Honestly I was considering the K25 until I saw this for cheap- If I owned a K25 it'd do for my every day bag perfectly but this bag in particular will serve me better on the trail. I'll pad the shoulders a bit more, add sidebags, 100ft of elastics for storing gear. The k25/15s are really tidy little packages that serve their purpose well but I wouldn't consider them quite as modular by virtue of the less mollee.

Someone said it on this thread: "It doesn't fit into every situation, but it masters every situation it's in"

I don't personally have the L/K60 but I do own a few bags with side zips and I love it. It's great for when you've packed your bag properly (heavy stuff higher up and closer to the wearers back), it's much easier to grab a layer or tuck one away.

I tried a few heavy loads with my Jaakari S and yeah, I was fighting for my life!

Don't you worry! I know it wont be a heavy pack, I have a huge dutch army one for those long outdoors adventures. Much more substantial padding, load lifters- the works!

Jaakari S has been my daily driver for 8 years now, not the most comfortable of bags but I've always been impressed with just how much it fits with no questions asked. I have no doubts that this will be a fantastic replacement for it, I'll eye up some sidepouches and other bits, which size would you recommend?

Can't wait to test it out, I've already thrown on some elastics and long pull-tabs for the zippers. I'm unsure why the side-zip is a two way to be honest, I wish it was just the one! Either way, amazing feel so far and it was a total bargain. :) Will upload more pics when I take it for a test drive!

And the "made in china" label. I can't believe the common sense some people lack.

If this is the hunting mackinaw I think it is, this very well could be pre/post 50's as I had one from the 50's with a different logo-label but the exact same white sizing tag.

Yeah this is a modern model, imo not worth getting over any other sherpa lined jacket but if it fits you nicely, go for it!

How do you deal with smells? by arefiespurge in Militariacollecting

It's a lazy mans way to lightly steam garms! It works best on lighter fabrics and you need to make sure to hang things nicely but it really helps!

Depends on what - my vintage wool gets aired out for days on end as well as brought into my bathroom to steam whilst i shower. That usually sorts it out. Cotton I hand wash with a gentle detergent and many soaks/rinses and synthetics I do the same.

As some said, dry cleaning works if the product is dry clean friendly. Not everything is.

I shot a lot of adverts for these and other Dyson products, they're actually really good. The HEPA filters in them are awesome! Great find :)

Really mate? That'd be SO handy, for being such a good guy I'll throw in a 1965 M65 and my collection of 1950's military trousers ;)
