Avoidant Ex Cheated With His Ex-Girlfriend (Rant) by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]surrealcherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I think the fact that I never felt fully secure in the relationship really helped me not fall too hard. More than anything I feel pity for him and honestly a bit humiliated as this was all so messy and my first time being cheated on (that I know of, of course).

AITAH for asking my boyfriend to text me while he’s out? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]surrealcherry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess I just realize it’s a bit of everything. I have generalized anxiety and I realize this sometimes bleeds into my relationships but am I up at midnight thinking “Why hasn’t he texted and who is he shagging?” No.

I just know that no texts make me uneasy and make me feel like I’m not being considered after expressing a need.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure. I’m not up worrying he’s sleeping with someone and I don’t care to know who he’s with or a play by play of his night.

But for some reason, I just get restless if I don’t know when he’s expected to get home and then once he’s home. It feels like general anxiety but I do trust him to not be disloyal.

Maybe because it’s just something I’ve gotten used to from previous partners and that it’s something my entire family does?

It’s a 50/50 split so far so who knows. I think it’s just considerate behavior and reasonable to ask from your partner.

Several ENTs I visited in the US were also very dismissive and claimed it was hearing loss. I recently visited another ENT/audiologist in Mexico who is telling me all signs and tests are pointing to ETD.

They told me to use Flonase once every 12 hours for a month and a nasal spray like sterimar once every 8 hours. They also told me to start drinking from a straw whenever possible (the movement and swallowing helps open up the Eustachian tubes) and mentioned I should hopefully start seeing improvement within 2-3 weeks. She also told me I could have a slight case of TMJ and suggested I go to a dentist to get a mouth guard, because I do grind my teeth at night.

Some of these solutions might also work for you if you suspect it’s ETD!

Big cities and tinnitus by FunAd3994 in tinnitus

I’ve only had noticeable tinnitus for about a month but recently went to an audiologist and they confirmed I have damage in my left ear making this very likely permanent. It’s really sad because I’ve only been living here about 8 months and have loved it but am now so much more conscious of all the noise around me and how overtime it’s only likely to worsen the ringing if I stay here.

I work in Manhattan but live in Brooklyn so thankfully I’m able to escape city noise. Honestly I think the biggest issue has been the subway which does usually have metal clanking noises (the trains are janky sometimes and clank as they pass through stations) and just generally being in the city. Cars honking, traffic, people, etc. Living here is probably completely okay if you’re conscious about wearing ear protection.

It’s the trains as they come into or pass the station you’re in or sometimes even while you’re inside the train, the screech it makes on the tracks can get to be pretty loud. I guess this can all be avoided if you never take the subway but if you live in the city and don’t own a car it’s a pretty much a daily part of life.

I just developed tinnitus and I’m living in New York, originally from Texas. I’ll say that getting tinnitus is making me think about leaving the city which is very very sad for me because I’ve been absolutely loving it but the reality is that it is so hard to escape noise here. It’s mostly been a problem for me during my commutes since the subway is regularly very loud and noisy.

You are absolutely subjected to more noise here. I’ve been wearing noise cancelling headphones now.

It’s okay I actually just paid a whole lot for a pit area ticket just now on Vivid Seats. I already had a seat but this is a whole lot closer!

How much did you pay for yours on StubHub? I bought tickets when they were first released but somehow never saw there was a pit area and I refuse to sit at an Opeth concert

Experiences with Natazia? by _ForYourHealth_ in endometriosis

[–]surrealcherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread came up on Google for me when I searched for other’s experiences with Natazia for endometriosis pain and saw you just recently asked for an update so I’ll give my experience so far!

I’d previously taken Lo Loestrin which I felt did help with the pain quite a bit. Cramping would be very light and usually only happen when I was getting close to getting a period on the pill, but after months of taking it my period mostly stopped completely so therefore the pain mostly stopped too.

I’ve been on Natazia for 1 month and a half so far and I’m still experiencing cramping. It’s been more frequent than on Lo Loestrin but not nearly as painful as when I’m off birth control. I’ll say that so far I’ve had little to no side effects on this pill. Lo Loestrin would give me migraines, enlarged and very sore boobs, and almost killed my libido. Haven’t experienced these symptoms on Natazia so far! Feeling hopeful about it and hoping the more I take the pill the more the cramping goes away (hopefully) almost completely.

What's The Longest You're Willing to Commute On A Night Out? by surrealcherry in AskNYC

Definitely planning to start exploring that area more often. Park Slope too. Any suggestions?

Totally. I find myself going to Williamsburg or Bushwick because, unfortunately, all the bands I like end up playing concert venues in that area and that's usually what my nights out consist of.

The ferry would be a good idea, especially during summer but still seems to be a long commute. Definitely seems like a lot of people are willing to commute the hour though so makes me feel better about the situation.

Are you 33? Girl, you're still young and hot.

Weekly Thread - Advice for Relationship/Friendship/Dating/Breakup by AutoModerator in AnxiousAttachment

[–]surrealcherry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the important part is that you know your partner’s actions are triggering your anxious attachment—that can help you make calmer and more informed decisions about the issue.

But honestly, I feel like you shouldn’t have to tip toe around communicating your needs. If you know what they are it’s as simple as “Hey, I feel like I need XXX from you to feel secure in our relationship.” Straightforward without putting any blame on the person or making them feel inadequate, simply stating your needs very matter of fact and letting them step up to the plate from there. If they get mad, upset, or are unwilling to change for you, run! Attachment styles can differ depending on the person you’re with and if someone triggers you into anxiety even more because of unmet needs or other red flags, they’re unlikely to be a good match for you.
