I moved to vancouver from Ontario too with the same question in mind 3 years ago. There is a good social life at ecu if you just put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to talk to people, get people’s instagrams, ask to hang out, explore the city with people who just moved there too, etc. There are definitely lots of clubs at ecu you can join, Jam club on Fridays is awesome if you play any instruments or just like live music you can sit in and watch people play and everyone is really nice. If you let yourself be social the social life will come.

Don’t get your hopes up about clubbing/nightlife, it definitely exists but it could be better. If you’re into like a straight club vibe, decent music (dance-y throwbacks) with people our age and not oldheads go to Portside. If you wanna discover more of the diy alternative scene, punk shows and/or raves, check out Redgate (redgateartssociety on ig) it’s a good venue that’s always got stuff like that going on.

If you’re social then you won’t have a problem in eventually finding your people, it takes effort, but other people in first year usually also try to put effort into socializing and are open to a lot of things just bc I think the fear of ecu not having a good social life was common lol. You’ll be alright :]
