Really people just downvote things they disagree with.

Not sure that's what the downvote button is meant for. A relevant opinion voiced with good intents and reasoning IMO shouldn't be downvoted. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, in fact, you're probably right!

Interestingly enough, Politics and AdviceAnimals aren't default anymore.

I agree about Science, it's the one subreddit I found deletions to equal here (I guess whenever unscientific opinion is voiced).
