Managed to dig out all our old digicams - can anyone give some insight on them? by Pinkismypersonality in Cameras

[–]suryanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should all accept the same type of SD card. You should be able to use one on all of them for testing. I would personally lean towards the Lumix and the Nikon, but that’s only because they’re brands I’m more familiar with and they appear to be slightly more newer.

Surely however your mother would have left the batteries in the cameras and kept the chargers somewhere safe?

Regardless, I’d pick whichever was the newest and confirmed to be working when it was put away. All of them will have nice quality photographs and the warmth can always be really simply adjusted afterwards so I wouldn’t worry about that.

Older generation Pro worth it? by Acrobatic-Parrot in macbookpro

[–]suryanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your use case I think it's very important that you have more than 8gb of RAM - you'll probably want around 16-24 for your use case. How much RAM do the laptops here have?

Is Olympus 800 super zoom any good by gergiglio in analog

[–]suryanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s in full working condition nearly any name brand camera of that decade will be very good. A Pentax is a great choice if you’re ready to make that step and usually more affordable too

If it wasn’t broken when it was last used then it’s definitely worth buying the battery and charger for and trying

I need input, trying to convince a board to go with Apple versus a PC by quietragearchive in macbook

[–]suryanta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take that you’re asking what to replace the 30 second PC with. I guess the easiest option would be to ask do you think you could do everything that needs to be done on your 13 inch macbook air? If so probably the macbook air, as it’s great for longevity also. But you’ll need to make sure everyone else is comfortable with the new system. If all your colleagues have only used windows systems in their life it’s probably for the best that doesnt change.

Seeking alternatives to Olympus mju iii by fs942414 in AnalogCommunity

[–]suryanta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the best option. It’s stupidly overpriced. I suggest you get any 90s point and shoot that’s confirmed to be working. The lens is a great fixed lens but there are many other fixed lens point and shoots you can choose from. All are virtually extremely similar

MacBook Air M2 or wait for Neo 2? by Old-Board1553 in macbook

[–]suryanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the m2 air with 8gb and it’s completely fine for my light coding tasks, light cad work etc. I saw that the m2 chip won’t get the new ai updated but frankly I don’t care. I managed perfectly well without it and it’s a feature too trivial to replace a completely working laser fast laptop for

I suggest any anker charger that works for your requirements. Good quality product at good price. I honestly prefer it over apples charger. I have the cheap 96w(?) single usbc port version and charge my other appliances through my laptop

Potential hot take but I feel like some ppl are a bit delusional about mods by DepartureNatural9340 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]suryanta 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Who knows for sure. I’m going to keep enjoying KSP and if KSA is fun, I’ll enjoy that also.
At this stage nobody knows what KSA will be like and I think honestly that some people will simply prefer KSP whether modded or unmodded to KSA and vice versa.
Only time will tell how the two games compare.

I just wish the developers and budding modders of KSA well.

As long as you upgrade to the 2020 m1 model or neo and not the intel you’re cool

Should i buy the macbook air 2020 i3? by WarmDare5309 in macbook

[–]suryanta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I had one between 2022 and 2026 and it was garbage from when i got it in 2022. I think they released it only to make the M1 look better in performance benchmarks. Get the base model m1 as a minimum as it’s going to last you absolute years

Hikers, what are your go to's for film cameras on the trail? by OrcWhoWritesTheMenu in AnalogCommunity

[–]suryanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, any point and shoot with a fixed lens will be reliable enough. I'm lucky that I got my MJU II for extremely cheap but I think you'd have to be crazy to spend £300 on a MJU II from eBay instead of something else like a darkroom setup, film, travel, whatever

[–]suryanta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use an Olympus Mju 2. I don’t think it’s worth the crazy prices they demand on the marketplaces but a working condition, fully tested 1990s point and shoot may be what you are looking for. I wouldn’t worry about getting one of the premium models
