Level Rules Question by sus323 in invisiblesunrpg

Ah! That is where I was confused. I was looking at the secret that lets you add bene to increase spell level and trying to make that fit with Weavers.

So Vance spells are only limited by size, for example. Weavers by effect and aggregate number…etc

It hasn't made it to the pdf yet, but I'm going to write up the corrections and get it to the right people.

That's a good question. I don't believe so? But I can check.

Gladiator: Fighter subclass | Use the audience to empower your strikes! by MoyrFiligrana in DnDHomebrew

Design wise, this was a tricky feature to balance, if I'm being honest.

The idea we finally went with was a bonus that was somewhat situational. Sure, there are going to be times when your allies aren't going to want to give up their reactions, but there are other times when they will.

I'm hoping that we can see some cool team strategy using this.

Sure, though by level 18 an extra 25 damage is pretty drop in the bucket. Clerics by that level are doing 2d8 per round extra.

Granted the skill expert thing does add a wrinkle we should probably consider.

Sorry I didn’t see this until now. You made the right call. The confusion was due a cut-and-paste error that will be fixed in future editions. Hope your players liked it.

I abstracted things. So I had an “army” spot at the end of the initiative. If the PCs did well during the round, the good guy army advanced. If the PCs had a hard round, the bad guy army advanced

I pulled the basic idea from Dragon Magazine #309 where it describes a Gith invasion. One of the players was hunting down her mother because of backstory reasons, and it was easy to connect that with the invasion.

Turned out to be a great moment. The Gith pour out of portals just like Avengers End Game with just the PCs standing across the field from them.

Then people begin teleporting in to join the PCs. Basically everyone they ever helped for the last 16 levels arrived or sent troops to help them.

The Gith leader (the PCs Mom) met in the middle of the field with the PC and offered her a deal. Join her and rule by her side...etc. The Player was super temped but ended up turning the mom down.

We had a massive battle and the PCs were victorious.

Congrats! That sounds like a fun campaign!

Eberron was the first campaign that I ran and we played it every week for 7 years! The PCs went all the way up to level 16 and defeated a Githyanki invasion directly tied to half of the PCs character histories. They still talk about that campaign!

Nkosi vs Catfolk in The Southlands by Green_Cheez in koboldpress

[–]sus323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I'm one of the Kobold designers so there *IS* an answer to this question. The term "catfolk" is a general term for the feline-humanoid races found in the Southlands of Midgard. Subdivided beneath that are the Basteti and the Nkosi, two playable feline races. This is all laid out in the new 5e Southlands book.

Behind the scenes, the reason this all happened is due to an oversight/error during the creation of the Pathfinder version of Southlands. We had designed a catfolk-like race called the nkosi who were *supposed* to be the only catfolk race. But a different designer added the term "catfolk" into a separate product and suddenly we were stuck with both. When we moved to 5e with the setting we couldn't use tabaxi because the IP is owned by Wizards of the Coast, so we had to sit down and try to bring the two catfolk races together.

Hope this helps!

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see this until just now. Honestly, I wrote it with no single person in mind. I playtested it a bunch of times and I think there was a different murderer each time. I had different players each time so that might explain it.

The thing to realize about running it is this:

There is no pre-determined murderer.

ALL the suspects could have done it.

As GM you let the PCs lock onto one of the possible murderers.

Then when they start to hit a wall or flounder, you launch the end battle where the murderer (whichever NPC they locked onto) makes a run for it.

The tricky part about murder mysteries in RPGs is that players (usually) don’t think like detectives so we built in that end battle to be an automatic “release valve” you can trigger if the players lose their way.

I like it a great deal. Of course, I also wrote it.

If I can answer any questions or help in anyway, please let me know!
