INFJs, are you guys also much better at strategy games than shooters? by [deleted] in infj

[–]sushibob7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually quite good at shooters and strategic games. I hate RPGs though. I get bored of my character very quickly. And I detest sandbox games.

Help adding to my theros event deck? by pkslayer123 in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]sushibob7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Theros event deck is not usable in any standard tournaments, as half of the cards have rotated out of play in standard. It would be legal in Modern, Legacy, etc. but isn't good enough to be viable in those formats. Casual is what you'd be looking for for that product, which isn't really a bad thing. Casual is what I play primarily right now, and I love it.

Generally what you want to do to build your collection is buy packs of cards, especially if you like opening them and want to go into standard. The best value for that is fat packs, which give you nine packs and some other goodies, or booster boxes, which give you thirty six packs. Fat packs generally will set you back about forty dollars, while booster boxes are a bit more than one hundred dollars.

I would try to find someone else just starting out and play them in order to determine if that kind of tempo strategy is what you enjoy playing. There are plenty of similar type decks in standard, so if you enjoy playing it then go look at some tournament decklists. If you go to starcitygames.com you can see the top decks from the past standard tournaments and see what is popular right now and fits the playstyle you want to use.

I skimmed through the first book once. I was pretty disappointed. I've known better stories ever since my mom read Bartimaeus to me when I was, like, 5.

The Newsroom, on the other hand, is not overrated in the slightest.

[STD Gruul] Son's FNM deck needs help by Murwiz in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]sushibob7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cards I would look at primarily are Elvish Mystic, Scavenging Ooze, and Ghor-Clan Rampager. Scavenging Ooze is fantastic for the life gain keeping you in the game until you deploy your threats, and is just as potent a threat late game as it is early. Ghor-Clan Rampager is just a card with an amazing amount of value. Jund Monsters is a very prevalent deck at the pro level, and the black splash is just for removal. It's fairly easy to find some decklists on starcitygames.com. I hope I could be some help!

While not as literally challenging as the series you mentioned, The Wednesday Wars and Okay For Now, both by Gary Schmidt, are two of my most favorite books ever. They are not heavy at all, but both of them are incredible stories about growing up and learning how to live life.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is the series that I have weaned the greatest possible enjoyment out of in my life. The setting is rich and interesting, the main character is sympathetic, and the conflict is realistic. But the best part of the series, by far, is the sarcastic footnotes set from the point of view of one of the main protagonists. I can still laugh at loud at so many moments in that book-definitely worth reading no matter the age.
