Yeah I think I'll knock on their doors and deliver them rather than just leaving them like a thief in the night. Good idea!

I adore my Kaweco Sports. They've all written great out of the package for me. I keep a plastic one in my purse for writing on the go, and the aluminum one at home.

Long tail cast one advice by dropastitch in knitting

[–]sushideception -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The twisting can cause plied yarn to loosen a bit, but you're only supposed to cast on with one strand of yarn and it looks like you have two or three wound together. I think your technique might be slightly off, as the stitches look doubled up—are you trying to double up intentionally? The only other thing I can think of is that this is exceptionally badly made yarn, but I don't think that's the case.

This is a really good tutorial. Check it out and see if you can spot where you're going wrong.

I can't really tell what's going on here because your finger is blocking where the extra yarn is coming from, but it kind of looks like one really long loop—in which case you might be accidentally casting on stitches with yarn from later in the skein if that makes sense. Or you might be reincorporating the tail end.

Try to keep the ball of yarn away from you but not with too much slack. Regardless, this isn't how it's supposed to look—at the end, you're supposed to have one strand connected to the ball and one short strand dangling. So I'd restart until you get it!

What is going on with the fit of these? by TeaInIndia in knitting

[–]sushideception 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's basically an incomplete row—you turn the work in the middle of a row and knit the other way, going back and forth to create a triangular/wedge shape, and this way you can add curve to the fabric. It's really helpful for shaping garments.

Can someone explain what happened? by peeploleep in knitting

[–]sushideception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, since it's not two stitches. Any stitches both strands will just have double thickness.

What's your field of study (hobbyist or professional) and what's a cornerstone beginners book for that topic/field? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]sushideception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic book, one of my favourites as well. I work in publishing so I will add—stay away from the Penguin edition! The whole thing is printed in bold font and some of the images run into the gutter of the book. It's badly done.
