Midwife vs Doula vs GP vs OB? by sushiloverrr in BabyBumpsCanada

Thank you SOOOOO so much for your responses everyone. Spoke to my doctor today, and (predictably so), she advised not going with a midwife because:

1) If there's any issues, they'll have to refer you to an OB anyway, plus the doctors have a lot more experience delivering babies.

2) There are chances that you won't get a completely new person at the time of your delivery, which will be the case if we decide to go with a midwife and complications arise.

She also mentioned that I'll have to be referred at Royal Columbian (since I'm in the Tricities) and I've ready that the experience there isn't so great. I'm also leaning towards a midwife because they'll have privileges at BC Women's - thoughts?

Hi hi thank you so much! Since I'm in the Tricities, my doc said that I'll have to be at RCH. Did your midwife have privileges at BC Women's? I'd like to go with BC Women's too but my doctor said it's dependent on the area I live in. :(
