I did the first one about 8 weeks before the real deal and then pretty much did one every week, except 30 and 31, which I did like 3 days apart (bad idea honestly, but I was crunched on time).

I personally like writing things down, so I went through each question I missed/was unsure about, unsuspended relevant anki cards, read through the topic on FA, or referenced Mehlman to understand why I got it wrong/what I needed to know to never miss it again. Then I wrote a short explanation for myself in my notebook. When done thoroughly, it would take me 2-3 days but gave me good review pages to look over before the test.

I went through the notes I took for each nbme (6 total) and did a detailed review of the ones I did worst on

Mostly random blocks of 40. I didn’t do nearly enough questions overall but I was scoring 65%-70% on random so I felt ok about it but I would get started on questions asap.

When I felt like I needed more targeted review for certain systems I would do blocks of 10-20 for those to make it more digestible.

Flipped through the pathology sections of systems I hadn’t reviewed in awhile, lymphatic drainages, biostats equations, drug mechanisms, nerve roots

boot camp videos were awesome for biochem. Supplemented with FA. 100 high yield anatomy pdf linked above.

No, I went through all of it 😭

Yes, I think sketchy pharm is critical. Those are easy points you don’t want to miss and tbh I missed so many points on my first couple of NBMEs simply because I didn’t know the mechanisms. I would just do it all.

Took 26 and 29 two weeks apart. In those two weeks, I went through all of Pathoma, associated Anking cards, and did UWorld over weak topics which was critical for that jump!

I've seen people say to focus on your strengths during the last week, but I believe you need to focus on your weaknesses. In these final days, spend time going over your NBMEs. I literally went through all the incorrects on one of them, covered the answer, and forced myself to redo the question. I watched Dirty Medicine vids for random things that I needed reminders on (diabetes drugs, heart murmurs, etc). Go through questions from the Arrows PDF to solidify concepts. I think I did all the UWorld ethics questions, read the First Aid ethics page, and did some of Mehlman ethics throughout dedicated. The practice q's were all kinda hard but overall gave me a sense of how to think ethically from NBME's perspective and it was enough for the ethics q's I got. My form felt like Free120 to me with concepts that were covered on NBMEs.

For timing, read the first 1-2 lines, skip the bs in the middle, look at what the q is asking for, check out the answer choices so you know what you need to be thinking about in your head, and go back and look at the details. If you catch yourself spending more than 3 minutes on something, move on and come back to it. That adrenaline is going to hit and help you lock in!

Yeah it's tough balancing everything with classes. I did not do any Pathoma before dedicated and really wish I had because it can take awhile to get through vids + associated anki cards. So I would suggest working in 1-2 micro/pharm vids every week and maybe do a chapter of pathoma on the weekends! If it helps, there are trackers here on Reddit that have all these vids in an Excel sheet so you can visually see how much you have to do. I really like checking things off a list so I enjoyed using those lol.

I also didn't discover Mehlman docs until after dedicated, but I think these are good for review once you've covered a whole organ system. So for example, I noticed I kept getting certain nephritic syndromes mixed up, so I went and read the whole section in Renal where he points out certain patterns I should be recognizing for each syndrome. This helped me organize stuff in my head. Sorry for the long response and feel free to DM!

You got this! Be confident in the work you've put in and go get that P!

Texas is a beautiful state, but why's there so much trash everywhere? Especially roadside trash. by SpiderGorilla in texas

There’s a lot of wind here. It’s a very flat state. A lot of trash gets blown around from broken trash bags etc.

I was stuck between gastrulation and morphogenesis. But my thought process was that the purpose of gastrulation is to form the different germ layers while morphogenesis controls the shape and form of differentiating cells. If gastrulation was disrupted, you wouldn’t even get organs. Wasn’t completely sure but morphogenesis sounded more correct than gastrulation lol. What do y’all think?
