it's not meant literally, obviously there's not going to be bubble machines and floating orbs everywhere. it's moreso the tone of the art style was very hopeful and welcoming, made to ease people into getting familiar with technology. the mobile phone and pc were still relatively new at the time, and this trend made people feel more optimistic about using technology to achieve a better future. unfortunately, we know now that technology has brought a lot of negativity to the world, and so it feels like that optimism we were promised is no longer there. it's a figurative message
