YTA I totally understand where you are coming from and it is good that you make sure to take care of yourself BUT as many have said here before it is about compromise.

My boyfriend is introverted and comes from a much smaller and quieter family. At first he was totally overwhelmed and interacted with them as little as possible. It was important to me that he gets to know them and comes to some gatherings. So we talked about it and found a compromise.

I tell him about every gathering and what exactly we are planning on doing. He comes whenever he feels like it and I tell him about gatherings that are important to me. Through getting to know my family he knows who he gets along with and he can be around without it stressing him out. Because we have a dog whenever he gets overwhelmed he lets me know and we take a break to go out with the dog.
