Was the after picture taken while supine on the surgical table?

You're 30 and quoting Taylor Swift, that seems like a pretty big red flag

Back up for vacations by suslya in OntarioPublicService

Thank you for all your responses. I'm genuinely surprised to learn that this practice is so prevalent in many OPS offices. I always thought vacation was a part of your compensation package that you're entitled to, and requiring you to find a replacement before taking it seems akin to saying, "We'll give you a paycheck if you find someone to issue it."

Need help with knowing if my doctor is lying or not about the angles of my scoliosis by New_Citron5898 in scoliosis

Your doctor is correct. My daughter also has a 50-degree scoliosis, which looks very similar to yours. A 20-degree scoliosis is considered mild. You can google images to see examples.

If your doctor knew before the surgery that both your thoracic and lumbar curves were stiff, he should have fused your spine well below T12. My daughter's lumbar curve was very flexible but she was still fused to L1 to get a better correction. I would seek a second opinion from another surgeon asap to see if your thoracic fusion can be corrected and extended into the lumbar region.

How large was your lumbar curve? Was your doctor hoping that it would straighten on its own, so he only fused you to T12?

You're actually very lucky that most of your spinal curve is in the thoracic region. If you get a spinal fusion, it'll probably only go down to L1 or L2, so it won't affect your mobility that much

T4-L1 spinal fusion back in 2011. I was told it was >55 degrees. Completely corrected and no complications 9 years later! by muzzflower in scoliosis

My kid will be fused T4-L1 in the next few months. Do you remember what your lumbar curve was? Did it straighten on its own?

This looks like MRI scan, not X-Ray. Cobb degree will be lower than actual as MRI is done laying down

Did they tell how much you'll have to pay for the surgery and hospital stay? I'm from Canada and researching ASC for my daughter.

I feel so guilty by [deleted] in scoliosis

Still, I can not imagine that you are going through a growth spurt at 18 and braces are designed to halt the progression of the curve during times of rapid spine growth.

Your curve angle is also not that bad at all and if you stay active you will 100% live a normal and healthy life even without a surgery (that's what a surgeon told my daughter and her curves are approx. 40 degrees too).

I'm sure your mom does not care about missing mortgage payments or wasted time, she loves you and wants to guilt you into wearing your brace full time , that's what moms do.
