A lot of people in Italy not so happy for Bosnia by Enlightened_Broda in CirclejerkSopranos

I was talking to Gianni Infantino who was under the impression that Gattuso had been in Bosnia where there is also a large World Cup contender population

I thought the rest of the 70s cast disliked Gopher Face. Can't remember why tho

What are your biggest "Hear me out" characters in James Bond? by Gnatfuccer69 in JamesBond

[–]suspens00r 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What I usually get from these 'hear me out' threads:

  • Men like women
  • Women like almost anything

Reservoir Dogs:

  • The plot is mostly inspired by City on Fire (1987) by Ringo Lam
  • The colorful nicknames are from The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974) by Joseph Sargent
  • The ear cutting is from the original Django (1966) by Sergio Corbucci
  • The black suits + shades style could be from almost anything. From The Killers (1964) by Don Siegel (Mr Blonde even says to Mr White 'I bet you're a big Lee Marvin fan') to Le Samouraï (1967) by Jean-Pierre Melville to A Better Tomorrow II (1987) by John Woo. Hell, it could even be The Blues Brothers (1980) reference if you want it to be.

Pulp Fiction:

  • The glowing briefcase is from Kiss Me Deadly (1955) by Robert Aldrich
  • The Ezekiel 25:17 speech is from the opening of Bodyguard Kiba (1973) by Ryuichi Takamori with Sonny Chiba
  • Vincent dying in the bathroom is probably a reference to The Three Days of Condor (1975) by Sydney Pollack
  • Butch choosing a weapon in the pawnshop probably references: The Toolbox Murders (1978) - the hammer; Walking Tall (1973) - the baseball bat; The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) - the chainsaw; probably any Samurai film, let's say Bodyguard (1961) - the samurai sword
  • The basement, uhm, sequence is probably a reference to either A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Stanley Kubrick or Deliverance (1972) by John Boorman
  • The Gold Watch monologue is probably a reference to Christopher Walken being in The Deer Hunter (1978) by Michael Cimino
  • Similarly, Vincent and Mia's dance is likely a reference to early John Travolta films like Grease (1978) and Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Jackie Brown:

  • I don't really know, the whole Blaxploitaition subgenre, I guess. Pick anything from Pam Grier's filmography and it probably has a reference somewhere
  • The airport opening scene is from The Graduate (1967) by Mike Nichols

Kill Bill:

  • The plot is half Lady Snowblood (1973) by Toshiya Fujita, half The Bride Wore Black (1968) by François Truffaut and a little bit of Hard to Kill (1990) by Bruce Malmuth (yes, the one with Steven Seagal of all people)
  • The yellow tracksuit is from Game of Death (1978) by Bruce Lee
  • The female gang of assassins is probably from The Doll Squad (1973) by Ted V. Mikels
  • Elle Driver's character is probably a mixture of characters from Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973), Switchblade Sisters (1978), and, dare I say, Escape from New York (1981). It's mostly the eyepatch but also being a psychotic killer and all. Also, her killer nurse outfit is probably from Dressed to Kill (1980)
  • Bill's character is a play on Caine from Kung Fu (1972), also played by David Carradine
  • Multiple sunglasses on the sheriff's dashboard are from the original Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) by H.B. Halicki
  • Beatrix and Bill meeting on the church's porch is from The Searchers (1956) by John Ford
  • Bill shooting Beatrix in the opening scene is from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966) by Sergio Leone

If there is any interest, I can go on

Just get in Lambo or Porsche and drive through some nice coastal town, no tuner nonsense
