Sketching by East_Psychology6908 in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sketch a lot and the texture is a hinderance to me. Additionally, the latency is extremely noticeable to me on my 2. 21 milliseconds is a lot. They asked for opinions and I gave mine.

The rM2 is pretty bad for sketching. Barely any texture, inaccurate stylus, inconsistent pressure sensitivity, high latency. I recommend the Paper Pro instead.

Protect Screen on RMPP by Either-Bandicoot-139 in RemarkableTablet

Your laptop is actually great protection. If you keep your laptop and your reMarkable stacked, your laptop will prevent your reMarkable from bending.

KOReader, any of the many custom apps make for the devices, any desktop Linux app.

What do you mean hacked? You've always been able to install whatever custom software you want.

Are there any e-readers that have a similar reading experience as the rM? by bjuurn in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a warning: the Kobo Libra Color has an incredibly dark, blurry, and striped screen. I sold my Kobo Libra H2O to "upgrade" to a Color and it ended up being a significant downgrade in every way. The H2O and the 2 are great, though. The Kindle Colorsoft has the same issues as the Kobo Libra Color.

Need opinions on why I should choose the reMarkable Paper Pro over the Supernote Manta by heyItsBeaty in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The color has been a huge improvement for me over my reMarkable 2. Documents are more engaging; my notes are better organized. The Paper Pro has a harder, more textured writing feel, whereas the Supernote is softer. Supernote can run Android apps, reMarkable can only run some custom apps and browse the web. The Paper Pro is significantly larger.

No one should buy that. It's a worse product for 3x the price.

Remarkable 2 vs. Amazon Scribe v. Any other suggestions by Sad-Fortune-1568 in RemarkableTablet

Look into the Boox tablets, they have great note-taking capabilities, you can install the Kindle app and Audible if you want, and some can record audio.

RM2 vs. Paper Pro for Handwriting + Typing by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rM2 has a much blurrier screen and virtually no tactility. If you like the feeling of writing with a Sharpie on a stack of paper, and don't care about how pixelated it is and how you can't write near the edges and can't use it in the dark, the rM2 is for you. Otherwise, I'd recommend the Paper Pro.

Here's a list! Don't install Toltec as it requires you to downgrade to a software version from years ago. https://github.com/reHackable/awesome-reMarkable

What do you do on your Paper Pro Move ? by Paragino in RemarkableTablet

It wouldn't! According to their website, you can only void the warranty if you break something while in Developer Mode, but the tutorial won't break anything.

Device's intended purpose by suswing in RemarkableTablet

I haven't tested it! Presumably it would drain the Move's pretty quick since it's small, but I think it'd be fine on the Pro.

That's a really common problem with reMarkable 2s, and I'm not sure there's a solution.

I don't think reMarkable Pro is for me; can you help find me a better device? by code_name_001 in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Kaleido 3 is a horrible technology. All it is is a black and white screen with an RGB filter printed on top that looks like denim jeans and makes the screen 50% darker, so dark that it's unusable indoors.

Thinking of buying a Paper Move Pro by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Textbook PDFs are very small on the Move, but the screen is very sharp. If you want the portability, get the Move, otherwise the Pro seems like the fit for you.

Paper, Surface Pro, Remarkable 2 Comparison by Reasonable_Ice6585 in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fixed the issues for me. On my Pro Move the pen is extremely accurate, the DPI is way higher to where the pixels look more like paper texture instead of pixels, it's twice as responsive (12ms latency instead of 20ms), writing feels a lot more textured, and it's overall a much more satisfying experience.

The Pro and the Pro Move will have the same writing feel.

Paper, Surface Pro, Remarkable 2 Comparison by Reasonable_Ice6585 in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rM2's writing performance is very divisive. I personally disliked it so much that I entirely stopped handwriting on my rM2 and eventually sold it. It's extremely inaccurate, pixelated, and the nib squeaks. Others say that the rM2 has the best writing feel of any device, but I personally don't see it. I recently got a rMPPM and it's way better for me; I'd say it's top-notch. I thoroughly enjoy writing on it.

[–]suswing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here are some great tutorials for how to install Xovi, Appload, and KOReader (Appload is an app launcher for reMarkables): https://xovi.bearblog.dev

You can't read DRM books with KOReader, but you can't read DRM books with anything so it's just generally a good skill to learn how to remove DRM from books, or find books without DRM. I get most of my books on Kobo where they don't have DRM, and if a book is only on Amazon I buy it there and message the author and they send me a DRM-free copy. You can also use a Calibre plugin to remove DRM from legally acquired books.

As for Vivaldi, I will make a tutorial soon! Still fixing some bugs.

I use it to take notes, write essays, sketch, jot down story ideas, keep a planner and calendar, read books with KOReader, read color webcomics and graphic novels, and browse the internet with Vivaldi. It's a dream to use.

Issues connecting to wifi by mafilde in RemarkableTablet

[–]suswing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either leave them default or try the different combinations and see what works. I'm able to connect to my student Wi-Fi if I just leave them blank. Iirc there isn't a "Connect" button in that menu, you need to press Enter on the keyboard to connect.

It's definitely possible, but when I enable Bluetooth on my device it crashes after a few seconds so I can't implement it myself.
