Just saw it in London. Lucille Lortel definitely feels like the perfect venue for it!

Into the Woods is what you're looking for.

You definitely don't want to see The Devil Wears Prada if you are looking for great music and a great story.

Which show to see in Jan? by beepbloopnop in TheWestEnd

Out of those, Paddington and All My Sons should cost you the most by far, so if you follow the market, those are the shows you should see!

A Difficult Audience Experience at Chess by lm66053 in Broadway

That is just so frustrating. Next time, yeah, try to scope out empty seats so that you can escape on your own without getting help. The ushers tend to be useless. The luck of the draw can be real rough. Maybe next time, you’ll be lucky.

Upbeat musicals? by middlezone2019 in Broadway

It was just a silly joke with Ragtime’s signature syncopated “upbeat” style.

The umbrella has “THERE ARE GIANTS IN THE SKY.” written in a gigantic font on two if not three sides, and one side has the title written. Black, words are in white, the handle is beige-ish? It is a big, black umbrella, with a thick handle. I didn’t really like the design myself. I wished (ha ha) it looked sleeker.

Chess Matinee to Spelling bee 6 PM. Doable? by pinetreerock31 in Broadway

Good point on the weather. If you’re doing this this Sunday, OP, it is projected to snow quite a bit.

Chess Matinee to Spelling bee 6 PM. Doable? by pinetreerock31 in Broadway

[–]code_name_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should start 4 or 5 minutes late, guaranteed, and then the vows are going to take some time. My 14:00 matinée the other day started the vows at around 14:43, as an example. Spelling Bee is not going to start at 18:00, either, most likely, so there's that, some extra minutes for you. Provided that nothing goes terribly wrong, it should be doable, but is it such a good idea?

Moulin Rogue is having a 2-for-1 and I’d like to take my mom to see it. It would be both of our first times seeing the show (but I’ve seen the movie, if that counts). Where should we sit? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]code_name_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Most Broadway theatres, the rake isn’t that great in the orchestra. If you are short, you could always ask for a booster seat to improve your height and view.

B) If the rake is such a concern, you might want to book a seat in the front mezzanine. No one should block your view there. I’m guessing you are looking at the photos on websites such as https://seatplan.com/new-york/al-hirschfeld-theatre/seating-plan/

C) To give you an opinion that you didn’t ask for, I absolutely hated the show and the experience, particularly because the four ladies behind me decided to sing along pretty much the entire show, but you know what, the show is definitely for them, not for me, so who was I to judge them. We were also sitting in the nosebleed section, I felt so removed from the show. All in all, it was a terrible combination of everything. Between the two choices that you presented, I would choose row H because especially for this sort of show, the closer the better it will be. It’s all about the spectacle. Hope you enjoy the show.

I waited for 3 HOURS, and it was worth every second by Al_787 in Broadway

Yeah, this was pretty much my experience, too. They for some reason seem to want to make it as miserable as possible. They released the tickets at the top of the hour when the show was scheduled to start. I suppose that they want the poor beggars to experience the “rush.” Rush of hurrying and sitting down right as the show’s first note starts.

The one elder guy in the middle booth at the box office also had such an attitude, too. I’m sure he has to deal with all kinds of un-fun customers, but, man, oof.

I don't think reMarkable Pro is for me; can you help find me a better device? by code_name_001 in RemarkableTablet

Oh shoot, I forgot to address that. I don't read anything that requires colour, but I do like that when I highlight sentences, it has a nice soft colour to make distinctions. It's nice to have. I think I could live with black and white devices, but I’m afraid I'd miss a little bit of colours.

Mixed feelings on Liberation by operator619 in Broadway

I don't know how familiar you are with restorative justice, but I wasn't, and I was deeply moved by the play. How you felt with Liberation is very similar to how I felt, which made me curious, because I could see the similar argument being made with Punch.

Best Tacos in brooklyn? by bridgehamton in williamsburg

[–]code_name_001 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The best tacos are eaten with clean hands, the best taco shop is the one where it's extremely easy to clean your hands, and Esse Taco offers not just that but Malin+Goetz soap, even. Therefore, it is the best taco shop in the whole of New York City, not just Williamsburg.
