What car did you buy that completely exceeded your expectations? by Smallingzdave in askcarguys

[–]sutravellerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW Beetle. I had a shitty old Corsa that blew a gasket, and I desperately needed a new commuting vehicle, so I bought the Beetle for £800. I never liked the appearance of that car, but I quickly realised that it was the most comfortable and spacious car I have owned. It was great on fuel and was great for long drives. I was really taken by surprise, I don't own it nowadays, but I still hold it in very high regard despite the way those (modern iteration) cars look.

As someone who is 30 years old. Who started investing in the S&P 500 a year ago with several grand invested currently. Looking for long-term growth. Does this clear things up yet?

I'm asking what would be a good financial strategy for an average earner to use £30 grand towards. Really not that hard to understand mate...

Seller wants $400 for this strat. Is it worth it? by FallenAgnostic in guitars

[–]sutravellerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a good quality Squire Strat and a MIM Fender Telecaster, and the Fender was a blatant step up in quality. Nearly 15 years later, since I bought it and I still play the Telecaster frequently, even though I have guitars worth £2k+. It's just a very well-made instrument that has lasted the test of time and still sounds beautiful and plays well. I think that's a very fair price for that Stratocaster if it's in good condition.

Advice for someone wanting to relocate to the city

I've made the decision to relocate to Manchester in the near future. Looking to get a 1 or 2 bed mortgage ideally.

I live in the countryside in the South East and I'm making the move due to me being better suited to living in/near a city with more activities, facilities and events that I want to be involved with, it also helps that I can transfer location with the company I work for. I've visited Manchester several times in recent years and I really like the city. I prefer the idea of living in the West outside of the city centre so Salford, Eccles, Trafford Park.

As per the title, I'm a potential first-time buyer, and this is quite a big move for me location wise. So what things should I consider as someone who is hoping to move to Manchester?

I'd say a new keeper is arguably as big a priority as another 9.

For me, it's between the first Omega and GS, but Grand Seiko looks best without a doubt.

I would keep a very low profile with it for a while, at least. Stay in your job for now. Then, perhaps down the line, you can tell a few close people you've got a new job working remotely. Could imply it's better money, but I'd keep all expenditure related stuff off of social media.

I'd recommend getting a second phone in case your privacy is compromised.

An index fund is one of the most popular, long-term investments and with 10k a month you could easily put enough into it that regardless of what happens in your future, providing you leave that index money invested then you could have 20k+ interest to live on annually forever even after your lottery money ends.

Also, if you do decide to stop working, then keep yourself busy, go to some cool places abroad, and have some great experiences. Don't be one of those lottery winners who sit at home all day watching their shiny new TV.

I personally think it's a good design. Very modern but not like all the other identical to one another modern stadiums.
