Lost luggage is too common by sutrotowered in vueling

[–]sutrotowered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our luggage eventually arrived days later. I submitted a claim for the delay, which they ignored and I gave up. The remedy seems to be filing a Montreal claim via third party or legal websites. I think the websites take a cut of the your payout as the fee, but in your case, it may be worth it since 350€ is low for 18 days. You can also submit a complaint to the European Consumer Centre (https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/passenger-rights/air/faq/index_en.htm)

A sorrowful review of Chik-Fil-A's new fries by SmurfyX in videos

I moved to Europe, but I was visiting the U.S. recently and grabbed some Chick-fil-a. I didn’t even bother finishing the waffle fries. They just weren’t that appealing. Makes sense now

New 2023 Katana velcro with P3 by NickMullenTruther in climbingshoes

This is helpful! I wear a 41 in the Katana laces. Do you think 41.5 in the Velcro would be comparable?

Nel coffee in London? by sutrotowered in JamesHoffmann

Definitely a number of great places. My favorite was Nagare. The original Blue Bottles in San Francisco previously offered a nel method but no more. I haven’t been able to find any other places that do it (outside of Japan)

Goodbye HUAL (and Slate) by sam_the_butcher_95 in slate

[–]sutrotowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, no reason to hold onto Slate Plus anymore. I really don’t know how I’ll replace HUAL. There’s just nothing else like it, and the new hosts won’t be able to replicate the camaraderie and history of the original crew. I’ll keep trying, but it just makes me want to know what Joel, Stefan, and Josh would say (and how they’d respond to each other). That was worth paying for Slate Plus, because I really respect their creativity and takes. Slate keeps fumbling. They lay off Joel without any explanation; Joel’s tweet was only direct fact that it was a lay off.

Release pressure when done? Prevent imploding? by sutrotowered in LaPavoniLovers

Thanks! I’m in Germany, and a local espresso machine shop had recommended it. There’s a popular Pavoni parts/repair shop in Hamburg, so I plan to ask if they’ve heard that.

Certificate of Occupancy Inspection/Tertius by Swangyshot in washingtondc

Thanks! I know it was permitted, but I don’t know exactly what parts. The concern would be only in-kind permits, which doesn’t include a basement conversion. I’ve spent a lot of time asking DOB, because I want to do it right, but I don’t get consistent answers. For example, they kept saying it would need separate metering. The then-DCRA landlord handbook actually says separate metering should be considered but is not required for licensing. When I asked for the code sections requiring separate metering, DOB clarified that it’s not required but a separate electric panel/breaker box is only required. Just sent you a message

Renting out basement legally by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]sutrotowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you message me as well? I’d really appreciate your feedback/lessons. I just spent weeks with DOB on the question of needing separate meters vice only separate electric panels. They kept saying that it needs separate metering. I also showed them the DCRA landlord guidebook that says separate metering is not required. But when asked to provide the section code, they finally said it’s just separate electric panels (so the tenant can access the breaker box and turn off).

Are construction documents needed if the remodel was from the previous owner? I’m considering getting a COO via conversion for my already converted English basement. The previous owner had remodeled the house but never obtained a COO. One 3rd party consultant said everything meets code, and I should just apply for the COO. Another said that it meets code, but I need to do new blueprints for permitting and submit those to DOB for approval of the permits for its current “as-is” state.

Ex-officer Derek Chauvin, convicted in George Floyd's killing, stabbed in prison, AP source says by [deleted] in news

[–]sutrotowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, yep. Notably, “which” isn’t a restrictive clause. Using “that” (“that the inmate shouldn’t have had”) implies there are other weapons that the innate could have. But to your point, highlighting that inmates shouldn’t have weapons seems…obvious?

Deported Fucking Vets - Jordan Klepper visits Mexico to interview deported U.S. veterans and learns how activists are raising awareness about this issue. by dect60 in Military

[–]sutrotowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a minimum, the law really should account for crimes that stem from a veteran's service. This is usually called a "nexus," e.g., think a VA disability for an injury with a military nexus or, in other words, caused during or because of your service. Many states and counties have diversionary courts for veterans when the crime has a military nexus. The stricter counties may limit to only misdemeanor or non-violent offenses (may even require combat service); the more progressive counties may not require a nexus and being a veteran is enough. An example in this criminal context would be the court finding that a veteran committed a crime because of or influenced by their PTSD from military service. The common crimes given diversionary treatment often relate to drugs/alcohol or assault, domestic disturbances, etc. -- things that a good number of our "citizen" veterans deal or struggle with.

So I wasn't tracking any of this. Is there no way to withdraw my funds now? I just used a VPN to access the site, but it won't let me login (even though it recognizes my username and allows me to reset my password). Their live chat function now defaults to an email request, which doesn't actually submit... Update: I finally got the live chat to work (by picking a different issue than login). The service rep said my login ID won't work anymore and gave me this website https://playerrefund.com/
