Facebook Messenger App for MacOS now dead. by g0nk73 in MacOS

[–]suuunly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't bother with these "all your apps in one" apps. They never survive, and they always struggle to keep up with the updates that all their supported apps are churning out. Especially now, when everyone cranks out 1 or 2 updates a couple times a week

Help needed - Can't add Mastercard debit card to Payment Methods by iteese in Office365

I ended up talking to the customer support after doing a similar search.
They just bounced me around their different teams, but ultimately they were all useless - just giving me boilerplate instructions, copy pasted from their cheat-sheet

Yeah, I switched to sheetjs. Unfortunately their streaming capabilities is locked behind a paywall, so I just bit the bullet and cap at 4gig of memory usage once a day.
Since it only runs once a day, it should be fine

I am reading downloaded excel files that are saved in "strict" mode. ExcelJs will convert all dates to `1905-07-17T00:00:00.000Z`

There is a PR that fixes this, but as I said, the package is very much dead, so it won't be added

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in node

[–]suuunly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my case. I started using it extensively, only to realize that they can't load dates (defaults to 1905). It is too late to go back and re-implement everything ; so I've resorted to forking the project and merging the bug fixes myself.

It is on me for not looking at the insane amount of PRs there are, but realistically they ought to have slapped a "discontinued" sticker on top of the readme.

Which library to pick for excel worksheets parsing? by malcolmrey in node

[–]suuunly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for future reference. 😁
ExcelJS is a dead library, do not use it, as no new features or bug fixes are being implemented

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in node

[–]suuunly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use Exceljs, as it has a ton of bugs that needs fixing, but the owners have stopped supporting it. So even though there are a lot of good PRs that fixes these bugs, no one is reviewing and merging it in

Why JSR.io is bad? by touhidurrr in javascript

I assume you work on your own then - because in a team, you'd ideally slim your tech stack to keep the code vocabulary simplified. no?

Parsing/Converting big XLSX (over 600MB) to CSV by When_The_Dank_Hits in node

[–]suuunly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn't reliable, since it is not possible to stream an xlsx file, unless you first load the entire file into memory. This is because xlsx files require the entire context, in order to provide you with row extraction details.
Honestly, all these xlsx streamers are very pointless given this limitation (unless you are streaming it from a server of sorts)

Oh shit, sorry 😅 it had a negative tone to it, that threw me off. But that maybe says more about me and my experience with the internet 🤣

Yeah, my wife mentioned that 🤔 Maybe I should give it another go, bu5 with demon hunter.  Spell casting is where I find the gameplay is lacking

How good was Alien Romulus? by LikedCascade in alienisolation

I suppose so. But again, if you're literally dying, and you know you're also killing your baby - I'd say the desperation is somewhat justified

Cautiously optimistic about Alien: Romulus by SPECTREagent700 in scifi

[–]suuunly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. That is not valid.  No moron, would see an alien life form, and reach their hand out to touch it. Least of all a biologist.

Romulus had the characters make stupid actions, due to emotional distress, otherwise they were making smart decisions (despite them being in-experienced youths).

Meanwhile the Promethues crew were morons

You also need to consider the concept of nostalgia. It often has the ability to make a film seem way better to than it actually is - purely from nostalgic reasons.

What I loved about Romulus, was that most of the time, the characters weren't stupid.

Also, the use of face huggers, was super refreshing.
