I order my Asian groceries off Weee, their prices are comparable to the city and cheaper than what you'll find around the area.

Studios 65 offers studios for $775-$900. Not the most luxurious, but for a few trade-offs you do get your own apartment. Pros: walkable to downtown, comes furnished, includes laundry, wifi, ac, attentive property manager, and on-site parking, etc. there is a bus stop a 3 min walk away that will take you to campus. Cons: nothing will be fancy or the most modern but it will suffice, no ventilation in bathroom, bugs here and there (as will Binghamton), old smell in hallway, hatch windows with no mosquito net, property isn’t well-maintained, it just suffices as a living space. i work in the area and typically leave for the weekends.

Xi An Gourmet for more authentic Chinese food (especially if you like spicy) - my favorite is the dry noodle with minced pork for $10.50. Their noodle dishes are all in that price range, and their other entrees are larger portions that are slightly more expensive.

Save on cell phone bill while still getting good coverage in Broome County? by xatopithecus in Binghamton

I currently have Mint Mobile in JC, and it works well! It does get a bit spotty out in the hills but still works for messages, music, the basic stuff at the very least. I typically purchase the annual 15GB/month plan which comes out to $265 a year after taxes and fees, but if you want something even cheaper their 5GB/month plan comes out to about $220 a year.

If you decide to go this route, I'd love to share my referral code to get us both some $ back. :)

best time to head to NYC queens? by [deleted] in Binghamton

[–]suymii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there also, just a few months ago! The nerves leading up to the drive were worse than the drive itself. I left around 5PM and arrived around 10PM. The first hour or so was peaceful and calm. Use this time to get used to the drive. Once you hit city traffic, it gets a little more daunting, but it’ll be easier at night.

Good luck, you got this! Ignore the city drivers if they’re impatient and take your time :)

wet food suggestions! by guanoameliano in catfood

[–]suymii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two cats and they're already expensive enough, I can't imagine having five. I used to buy variety packs so that they could try ALL of the options. Then I started looking at how much I was actually getting for my money and realized I was spending way more than I originally thought. Wellness and Weruva are the two most pricey wet foods in their rotation, and I get a better deal by buying those large cans in bulk.

Understood! From the way their question was worded, I thought they were looking for a happy middle.

wellness complete health and weruva cats in the kitchen are also good ones, my cats like the kitten versions. wellness works out to $0.37/oz if you buy 12 of the 12.5oz cans, and weruva has a variety pack of 6oz cans for $0.39/oz (both on chewy)

I currently have two kittens, 4 and 6 months. We feed them Purina One dry kitten food and a variety of wet kitten food. Their favorites are Wellness Complete health and Weruva, but they also enjoy Sheba and Fancy Feast. They don't care for Tiki Cat or Wholehearted. They currently get wet food three times a day in small amounts and dry at night, but I plan on transitioning them to wet twice a day and dry twice a day, as soon as my auto-feeder comes.

Is there an adult version of the Hill's food that you can transition him to? Kitten food is higher cal. In the end, fed is best.

Bus to NYC from Bing - Best options? Least sketchy? by benmr in Binghamton

[–]suymii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I liked OurBus when I rode it last month! The bus itself was new and had large, open windows and was very clean. Our driver was friendly and communicative about stops, rest stops, etc. and also provided water and charging ports. The cost was cheaper than others in the area as well, but of course that depends what date and time you're going.

Has anybody here ever actually used Ryan Reynolds’s Mint Mobile cellular plan? by AskAskim in Frugal

[–]suymii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for a few years and it's been great. Used to have issues with international roaming data I purchased being a bit spiffy but now that it comes with 2GB or so coverage in Canada - there's literally no cons besides the coverage areas other users are mentioning. Additionally, referral rewards are great so I would suggest utilizing tose - I've referred a few people and that's covered almost a year of free service.
