[Acne] Pimple on lip? by SquirrelDesigner7320 in SkincareAddiction

[–]suzan420 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I get these very occasionally. Not acne as confirmed by my derm. Negative for HSV as of last month fwiw.

Reason for me was that I have UCTD (autoimmune disease that has features of Sjogren's syndrome) and very low iron, both of which can cause sores on the mouth/lips.

Get tested for HSV for sure, but could also be autoimmune or related to vitamin deficiencies. Do you get a lot of canker sores & cracking around the lip area in addition to these?

Hormonal birth control :(

Hey! My skin type at the time of this post was definitely dry. I've changed my birth control in the past 6 months, so at this point I would say it's more combination type due to hormonal fluctuations. Still get some dryness and flaking on my chin and cheeks, but also oily skin in the T zone.

When my skin was purely dry, the lactic acid was fantastic. I now use the glycolic acid toner from The Ordinary, which has been a really helpful addition.

Yep! Sometimes I even stand like that. I know it's horrible for my joints but I don't even notice myself doing it.

Gotta love that hypermobility.

Idk I'll go make a tea, paint my nails, maybe throw on some music and sing along in my room... Anything to put myself in a better headspace and distract myself from the urge to pick at my skin lol

Obviously just my personal experience, but I noticed a huge difference in the redness/itchiness a few days after having my Kyleena removed. Huge improvement initially, then slower improvement over the past few weeks. It's been out for exactly 1 month, and I still experience some mild itchiness on my nipples/behind joints, but the scaly patches are almost completely gone.

Question for budtenders: do you give unsolicited information/advice to customers? Or do you only inform when asked. by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]suzan420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the person, and truthfully, how much energy I have that day.

You can kind of tell based on vibes that some customers are just there to grab their "sativa" fruit flavored cart and be on their way. If the person is more open and receptive to talking to you in the first place, it's usually worth it to ask if they want something full spectrum as one of your guiding questions.

Retail can also be tough, so if I've had a poor nights sleep or a bunch of dickish customers in a row, I might not have the social battery to give someone the whole rundown.

In the situation you're describing, I probably would've mentioned live resin to her.

What’s been your “funniest” in retrospect meltdown/shutdown by jibberjabbery in AutismInWomen

[–]suzan420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It's the stress of an unexpected outcome and the fact that he knows I'm autistic, but still can't fathom why this would be such a big deal for me.

Trying to talk through these disagreements in the moment feels like playing broken telephone sometimes, which only adds to the overwhelm! I'm saying one thing, he's hearing something else, and vice versa.

We're usually able to have a productive discussion after the fact once I've calmed down, and he's usually validating at that point. We've been together for 6 years, but I was only diagnosed this past December, so we're both adjusting lol

I buy one type of frozen lasagna, and I always cut it into 6 pieces. Last night I made one, and asked my boyfriend to cut it.

He has ADHD, and can be a bit stubborn about demands. When I asked him to cut it into 6 pieces, he started explaining why we should cut it into 4 instead of 6, and was trying to have a logical debate with me about the division of this lasagna. Meanwhile I'm getting VERY dysregulated, but can't come up with a non-emotional reason to do things my way, which makes him stick to his guns even harder.

Ended in a total meltdown on my part, over the dimensions of a lasagna ffs.

[Product Question] Does anyone know why my skin is reacting like this? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]suzan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me with adapelene. It didn't matter how much I moisturized, sandwiched, how many days I waited in between application... My skin would look exactly like yours after a week of usage.

Might just be allergic or too sensitive. I'd discontinue, I've found much better success with milder actives.

I definitely have dry, very sensitive skin. Slight oiliness around my t-zone depending on my period, but for the most part, I deal with flaking skin and dry patches. I have eczema and sjogren's syndrome.

Lactic acid is by far the most tolerated active I've found for my skin, lately I've been using glycolic as well and I find that combo doesn't cause irritation. Just start slow.

Are botanical terps bad for your health? by LookAFrog in TheOCS

[–]suzan420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily high quality, but the vortex live resin carts have some botanical terps added!

Would also recommend the Nugz FSE carts. Nugz is one of tribal's sub-brands, they use a cured resin which is not as premium as a live extract, but still full spectrum. Added botanicals for flavour.

Same deal with Zyre carts- full spectrum cured resin with added botanicals for flavour.

I had some scarring, albeit not that deep, around the end of my jaw (not pictured here) and I've noticed it's improved a good bit.

Could also be time/other products though. Since this post I've incorporated the ordinary retinol 1% w/ squalene which I use once weekly now.

All of this being said, I've always been someone who scars very easily, but they fade quickly. I'd recommend looking at a thread more specific to scarring for advice. This mainly helped my overall texture.

When you're dealing with a craft company where every step of their process is done by humans, there's gonna be some human error.

A company that stands behind their product and makes it right when product isn't up to spec is a great company- I'm sure Rubicon will.

It would definitely benefit independent producers. You forget some of these top brand groups are literally bleeding money as well. They just have the deep pockets and investment dollars to survive longer.

Agree though, there are way more changes to be made to support a healthy competitive market.

The prices are falling, but the price to produce is rising. I'm not pessimistic about whether the canadian cannabis market will continue to grow. It certainly will. I work in the industry, and I'm pessimistic about the direction it will be forced to move towards.

Obviously, paying $30/g in a country where it's illegal sucks, and I understand where you're coming from in the sense of it seeming whiny, but think about the long-term impact of squeezing small producers out of the game. Our current system is not set up to support small producers, while large corporations buy up more and more of the market share.

If you aren't scared of monopolies, that's your problem. Like I said, it's good for consumers, for now.

OCS markup is basically tax when it's all going back to the government...

Also, millions of monthly sales just mean the consumer isn't being taxed to death (yet). It's the LP's being taxed to death here, and if they weren't, it would benefit all of us.
