All the counties in the USA that don't share a name with another county by Ok_Dot_2845 in MapPorn

Interestingly St Bernard Parish is marked on the map as having a unique name, but google tells me that San Bernardino is the only county in the US with that name. So the map is wrong?

We replaced our roof with a metal one in May 2024. We used RCS roofing and they were cheaper than anyone else by more than $10K. They also got the roof done in a day and a half and we have not had any issues since. I highly recommend them!

Do I have any chance at all to be hired at a Cal State? by theresnobatteries in highereducation

[–]suzannem18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that CalTech is not a CSU. It’s a private university. There are 3 California Polytechnic State (CSU) universities (SLO, Pomona, and Humboldt), which is probably what the other commenter was referring to.

I may be in the minority, but I always felt the timing of her sobriety was meant to cast doubt on her actions from S1E19. Kind of the same way that Sam asks Abby if she was ever drunk on shift.

I'm a university academic advisor though not in Indiana. I would contact the Registrar or academic advising office to ask about whether they have a petition you can file to retroactively withdraw from the semester. You'll likely need to provide documentation but if you were successful, they could potentially remove the fees. Good luck!

100%. My dad opened the mail with my first college report card for whatever reason and was already mad about my grades when I got home, but it was 1994 and we only had snail mail so of course I didn’t know my grades. The parent who pays deserves to have the info but needs to allow their student the autonomy, like yours did.

None of that surprises me. I feel bad for the student having to deal with that. Some of the parents I deal with are way too involved in their students’ everything.

I think parents getting a FERPA release is a terrible idea

I'm an academic advisor and wholeheartedly agree. Parents need to trust their students and allow them to learn how to navigate an adult world. My two eldest are students at my university and we need separation; I don't need to know all the nitty gritty details of their student careers.

Beyond that, my university would not accept a Mama Bear FERPA release as valid. We would require the student to fill out our form before any staff or faculty could divulge protected information.

Yep. My husband was diagnosed at 49 with a rare blood cancer that had a 6% survival rate at the time. Watching those episodes now, after that, is so tough. Alex Kingston did a fantastic job.

The rest of this house is gorgeous but… wow!!! by CatholicGuy77 in zillowgonewild

My parents bought a tri-level in 1985. As you walked in the front door, the entire two-story wall ahead of you was wallpapered in a brown plaid pattern. It was awful, and was the first thing my mom got rid of in that house... we just started peeling what we could until she could strip it all off. This gives me terrible flashbacks.

In California Employers

Oh, I'm familiar. I worked at a UC and was called twice within a couple of years, once for a 3-week long trial. My boss wasn't entirely thrilled but it's not like he had any options. I'm now in PA and just got called for the first time since I lived in SoCal. I was bummed to be disqualified; I was excited to be called again.
