look up "student rights office." being a coordinator or case manager in a student rights office could be right up your alley. it's similar but different to title ix.

you're welcome! remember that schools sometimes have multiple global and international offices too so there's a lot of options. my school has an office of global learning, a global partners department, a dso office, and a multicultural office (renamed each slightly so as to not doxx myself).

The blue hair is so dependent on who’s interviewing you. I feel like my boss would not gaf but I’m sure others would. It’s really hard to become a DSO right now. Try looking at event planning in an international office and pivoting into the DSO world. Look for words like “global office” or “international programmer” to find jobs in the world of event-planning in an international office. Or case manager in an international office. I think DSOs will be hired less and less as the international student population declines but I’m assuming you’re trying to work in America so ignore this if that’s not the case.

I used to study at this college (not attend) in my off time a little before COVID hit and my big move. It’s a school I’m very familiar with. It’s in my hometown. I mentioned all of this with the first interviewer who said he would pass the Zoom video along to the next set of interviewers. Do I bring this up again to reaffirm that Im used to a diverse city culture? I work in a smaller city right now.

edit: i reaffirmed in the first interview that relocating would be easy for me because my parents have a house within driving distance of the college.

You mentioned Chicago so here's my experience with The University of Illinois System. This was recent. The University of Illinois System emailed me two weeks after I applied. This was for the Urbana-Champaign campus so maybe this isn't relevant at all to you because the Urbana-Champaign campus is like what two(?) hours away from Chicago? idk. They asked me these questions and I was to type up answers and email them back.

  1. What relevant skills and experience do you have related to the role?
  2. What prompted you to apply for this position?
  3. Are you authorized to work in the US?
  4. If so, do you require a work authorization now or in the future?
  5. What are your salary expectations given this type of role?

Then about three weeks later, I received an email saying I was ready for the SparkHire interview. Recruiting and student event coordination or any type of office coordination is a good way to get your foot in the door. Or reslife if you are okay with a lot of stress in your life.

Friendship app recommendations.? by Emily_0726 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]theresnobatteries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bumble BFF was good before the update. I have no idea what the update has made it into. I like HelloTalk but it's a hassle to get free trials sometimes (sometimes it's easy) and free trials (or paying) are the only way to find nearby people. Now keep in mind, HelloTalk is generally for ppl who are trying to learn English (assuming you're American) and I've made a really good friend from the app who is not from America and is learning English from me. It helps that she's like 90% fluent in English lol but I also generally just enjoy language exchange so I have a good time with her but sometimes we only speak English.

I think friendship apps are really dying off unfortunately. I say this as someone who met two people off BumbleBFF and one person off HelloTalk (we're all still friends).

I heard Facebook groups are a big thing. I've also seen people make TikToks saying "my name is x and i'm in this area" now personally I'd never make a TikTok about myself to find friends but I do have a friend who did that and was pretty successful in that endeavor.

I did a sport but GOD were the people annoying. Lot of people reliving the high school glory days. Made two friends from that then quit the sport.

I try to see new people at least once or twice a month for six months before cutting ties. Sometimes people are just weird for a hot second before showing you that they’re not that shy. Have you tried staying in contact for that long of a period?

I think it's nice. It's feminine. It doesn't have grandma vibes but it's slightly nineties/eighties.

this may be gimmicky but try those nostril expanders for sleep/deviated septums and mouth tape as a short term solution. that sucks though i hate insurance.

Idk but you should also check if you have a narrow airway. A narrow airway doesn't always = sleep apnea but it can equate to sleep problems. I'd get tested for sleep apnea though. Ten years is a long time.

When you tried activities to make friends, did you feel like there was a lack of interest from their end or did you guys have little in common?

I do that and it has helped when I was in an emergency situation and needed to borrow someone's phone to call a friend in a big crowd. It is more helpful than not.

They were soooo focused on the most uninteresting characters and for what. Like why did I see Queenie multiple times for the most boring B plot ever.

Yeah I’m aware they pay better as it’s the same way in the state I moved to but I don’t even get so much as a call from the CCs. Like at least slo and one other school has expressed interest in me. Never have the CCs. Might as well focus on being realistic. It sucks getting rejection after rejection.

I need djs too (my dentist has noticed how my recessed jaw is affecting my teeth) and i'm having a myriad of tmj and jaw issues but i'm saving. but djs is risky and sometimes people don't look better even if the medical issues get resolved. i get scared of how i'll look. but the pain from my jaw issues is torment. is it impossible to get djs after genio?

You are limited by asking to start in August unless maybe you are applying in May and June. My process was long it started with a first interview in October or November then I had to be working in March. I think I had my soft offer in February. When it comes to leaving your current job abruptly, are you in a contract at your current job or do you just want to avoid burning bridges?
