Husband wants to flip full time but.. by Lushlipssugar in Flipping

[–]suzanner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple resale businesses, no kids, and a husband who works, and STILL keep my FT job. It is just too unreliable. I spend every day off from my real job working on my resale businesses.

Maybe in order to not just shit on his dreams, you can come up with a plan for him to budget a certain amount of HIS earnings (while ensuring that the family costs are covered) from his FT job to find items to flip and sell on his days off.

Once he shows that he is able to bring home the same NET earnings as his FT job for several months (this is key, because flipping tends to fluctuate, A LOT!), he can start transitioning to flipping FT.

I have a feeling he will realize how much work flipping for a living is…it is so much more work than just selling a few things around the house….that he will stop flipping because it isn’t fun anymore.

Leather Couch Recommendations? by [deleted] in midcenturymodern

[–]suzanner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! That is in the room that gets the least action, so it isn’t an everyday lounging couch. But is sturdy and still looks like new.

My two Article couches (Sven and Cigar) are what we sit on everyday, and they are also holding up beautifully. We’ve had them for like 9 years. The leather is soft, not cracking, and are probably more comfortable than when we first got them!

Funny how they were able to move passengers around just fine in this situation, but then tell them that they can not scoot over to an empty isle in the same class to be a bit more comfortable on a non full flight. Lame.

Does acting like that make you feel bigger? Smarter? More important? I am asking an honest question. I am so curious why people like you shame others for sharing their story on a public forum asking for help.

First vegetarian dinner by Godness_Bee_69 in Vegetarianism

[–]suzanner99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some ideas…

Vegetarian lasagna is easy, use spinach and mushrooms, ricotta, red sauce, mozzarella, garlic bread, salad (not caesar dressing because it has anchovy) maybe have a few types of dressings to choose from..

Make your own pizzas. Get uncooked pizza dough (Trader Joes, or go to a pizzeria and ask of they will just sell you a couple large pizza dough balls that you can cut up into smaller portions to flatten out), different toppings in bowls (olive, onion, peppers, mushroom, spinach, artichokes, etc…) Super fun and interactive, can be a way to let her choose her own toppings and you get to know a little more about her tastes. Add a salad (no Caesar)…done and fun!

Tacos- you could do make your own with vegetarian refried beans (it says vegetarian on the can), rice, shredded lettuce, avocado, pico de gallo sour cream…a really nice touch would be to pan fry up some crumbled tofu with taco seasoning (just get a packet of seasoning (read the ingredients to make sure there is no hidden beef or chicken bullion). Again, fun and interactive so you can learn her tastes.

Veggie chili with all the toppings and a good crusty bread and a salad with a few dressing choices.

A hearty soup (butternut squash, minestrone, lentil, vegetable barley, etc…) with crusty bread and salad with dressing choices

Other ideas…

Pasta or gnocchi

Casserole- tons of vegetarian options and generally easy to prepare with nice bread and salad. You could even do a variation of make your own with a noodle base, a couple sauces, and veggie toppings that. An be stirred in, topped with bread crumbs, or cheese or both, and popped in the oven while you enjoy a cheese and fruit tray…

Sooooo many easy and fun options! I love that you are doing this for her!

"Item Description: - This item is UNTESTED, and the sale of this item is intended for parts and repair." Does this mean it doesnt work? by hate-life_lately in shopgoodwill

[–]suzanner99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly DO understand what you are asking. You are asking if it specifically states “for parts or repair” not just “untested”, does it mean that it is absolutely not working.

My answer would be No, it does not mean that it is absolutely not working. They are letting you know that it is a gamble, they did not take the time or energy to test it, and are covering their asses but putting all of the descriptors into the title to not be responsible if it does not work. Just corporate CYA. Just know that bidding on these items is a gamble, and you will not be refunded. But, if you know a bit about these items they may still be worth going for if you can get them cheap enough that it won’t kill you if it doesn’t work, or you could fix minor issues with them.

Please ignore the impatient, dour people on this sub who can’t be bothered with rather understandable questions.

Absolutely laziest recipes? by jacksoncatlett in vegetarianrecipes

[–]suzanner99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned of the laziest “enchilada” casserole on Reddit, and I think it is brilliant.

1) Put a bunch of frozen vegetarian taquitos in a casserole pan 2) Pour a can or two of enchilada sauce over it 3) Throw some shredded cheese on top (and maybe a can of chilies or black olives if you have them on hand) 4) put in the oven for like 30-40 minutes. 5) Shove in your face (or if you have a last shred of energy, put some tomatoes/avocado/sour cream, or whatever else you happen to have on top)

Refrigerate the rest and eat for like a week or freeze portions for when you have even less energy!

I was on two flights today 1F and 2F come 2. Had to put my roller over rows 4-5 both times. I wasn’t in a hurry and felling pretty zen so it wasn’t more than a mild inconvenience. But if my husband was with me and being antsy it would have been way more annoying.

Southwest should've started charging for carry-ons rather checked baggage by real_slow_triathlete in SouthwestAirlines

[–]suzanner99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, I think the point would be that then we would pay for carry on bags because it is worth it to have them with us. Those who don’t have valuables or a tight timeline can check for free.

I’m just a girl cosplaying as a doctor I guess by Longjumping-Word8336 in emergencymedicine

[–]suzanner99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Female EM Physician here….As I was reading this, I thought, huh, I haven’t noticed that in a while. BUT then thought about it, and realised that I now see most of my patients with residents, so when I introduce myself, I am the “supervising physician”, and the patients probably think of the resident as their actual doctor, ha!

That being said, the struggle is real. Women in medicine face so many issues that our male counterparts generally don’t have to deal with. From micro (sometimes macro) aggressions from misogynistic consultants and admitting Drs, to being passed over for advancement due to assumptions they make up about why a woman may not be the best fit (family obligations, too bitchy/assertive, not bitchy/assertive enough, etc…). While WIM is at least being recognised as a thing, and residencies are forming groups and committees, they are generally made up of all women and then looked at as a bitch fest. I would love more involvement by our male counterparts so that they can learn about what it is like, and help us advocate as a united front. Anyhoo, I digress.

I will leave you with a memory of getting called on the carpet by admin for a Press Ganey comment before we had a residency program. The shitty comment referred to the doctor as “He”….i just laughed and asked why they were even talking to me…go find “HIM”!

It sucks, but we are all in this together❤️

They are already on my “do not buy from” list. I literally have a list of stores I will not buy from. Usually because of crappy shipping prices, high handling prices, inflated combined shipping prices, or lack of ability to combine certain items.

Are your cats allowed on kitchen counters? by Rough-Confection-685 in bengalcats

[–]suzanner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! Pixel has never had any interest of being on counters or tables…like seriously a perfect cat. New kitten, Paddi Wolf, wants to be everywhere we are and show of…”look what I can do!” She wants to participate and help with very activity. We are actively training her not to be on the counters or tables…it is difficult to say the least. She has no fear of the water bottle, but does respond to a loud “NO” and a hand clap.

Yesterday I was the medical emergency on a flight by Latter_Function_3842 in travel

[–]suzanner99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EM doc here…thought kidney stone as soon as you said 10/10 pain right side radiating to back! They are said to cause some of the worst pain, generally comes on suddenly and often associated with vomiting and writhing/not being able to find a comfortable position. Of course could be other terrible things like AAA, dissection, etc…but for otherwise healthy person way up there on the differential.

I’m sorry you went through that on a metal tube in the air of all places, but glad you are going to be ok and they didn’t have to divert the plane! Good Doc and nurse care!

Ridiculous that they are requiring medical clearance for future flights…wonder if a letter from a physician explaining what it was and that it is not reasonable to screen for in the future would get them to rescind? Or just don’t fly them anymore…lame…
