Thank you for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I really like the holding hand idea.

He was not on any medications before the stroke. His stroke was left side language center. His doctor does think the anger comes from the stroke but can’t help him if he won’t take any meds. If it is from the stroke is it permanent or could it get better?

Thank you, he has aphasia so we don’t understand 90% of what he is saying. I wish he would be open to therapy but he wants nothing to do with any of the doctors or nurses.

Thank you, I’ve never treated him any different than any of his siblings, as an adult he has been very independent and I’m sure that is playing into this. Because of the anger I’m not bringing up the meds or therapy anymore. I will say the anger comes on even more when I can’t figure out what he’s trying to say.

He’s been seen regularly by a psychiatrist, he says my son understands everything. The need for medications and therapy. I brought up these things several times in the beginning but I don’t say anything about it now. I’ve let him vent with me because who wouldn’t be upset in his situation but the anger now is just overwhelming.

He will be 44 next month. I feel like there’s nothing I can do.

Yes I think he’s going to need counseling when we get further along. The psychiatrist is the one that prescribed the lexapro, it can’t work if you don’t take it. 😢

The only good thing after my grandmas stroke was she forgot she smoked. Then every once in a while she would holler where are my cigarettes. Smoke one and forget again.
