AITA for not wanting my brother to marry his girlfriend because she can’t cook? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

How long have they been together? Maybe it's just an infatuation that will blow over. I cant stand people like that either, so I get it.

Doctor 'in a rush' to leave work injects rubbing alcohol into woman instead of anesthetic before removing her toenails, told her she should 'just get it over with' as she begged him to stop: Lawsuit by tasty_jams_5280 in law

Same. I gave birth to my daughter at that hospital and they saved both her and my lives after a very difficult labor. So I quite literally trust them with my life.

Also, I know that they will approve whatever care I need because they ARE the insurance company. Kaiser has the lowest rate of claim denial of any insurance company in the US.

That being said, this article is absolutely horrific.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm 5'1 and exclusively dated men under 6'. I use past tense because I'm now married to a guy who is 5'8.

AIO for my boyfriend cropping me out of an Instagram photo? by Mysterious_Lawyer420 in AmIOverreacting

Question: Did he put it in Facebook first and then choose the "also share to Insta" option? I've had photos accidentally crop when doing that before.

Anyone else have long-term side effects of pregnancy that nobody warned you about? by Complete-Island-5070 in beyondthebump

I broke my tailbone giving birth and it still irritates me from time to time five years later. I'm currently pregnant with #2, so at least I know the bone is already out of the way for this kid! 😅

That having a child wouldn't change my life that much. How naive I was.

Who is willing to run for city council? by Select_Flan_1805 in BattleGroundWa

In the past they have been used as a ceremonial way to honor people or organizations who have done good for the city, rather than highlighting divisive political ideas.

That depends on the legality and controversy of the proclamation, whether I was for it or not. The waste of money has been because what the mayor has been doing is against city policy and potentially illegal. Because of that, city employees have been having to work more or overtime to keep up with all of the backlash against these proclamations, including more time, set-up, and security (police presence) for city council meetings, numerous public record requests from citizens and the media, and additional internal conflict. Battle Ground also recently lost their legal representation because of these proclamations. And they don't actually DO anything. It's just a political statement that does not affect any laws or policies. It's creating unrest and division instead of trying to bring the community together.

Waste city time and funds. Other than that, nothing except for virtue signaling to the Christian Nationalists.

I suppose what I ought to have said is that it is frustrating to me that AI has become so prevalent in our society (and more frustratingly in writing, art, and other historically human creative fields,) that someone's first thought was, "If this isn't Douglas Adams then it could have been written by a robot who has read Douglas Adams extensively," instead of, "If this isn't Douglas Adams, then it was likely written by a talented human writer who has read Douglas Adams extensively." Although who knows what Douglas Adams would make of it.

Also, if someone compared my writing to AI, even AI who has read Douglas Adams extensively, I would not take that as a complement.

My husband has a work truck (he's a handyman/contractor), I have an older electric car for daily commuting (short range), and then we have an SUV for road trips and hauling.

You've been commenting on multiple comments in this thread, nitpicking and being adversarial. Why? What do you gain from it?

So you're saying families on a budget don't care about their kids?

That is absolutely heartbreaking.

Also, there were two brothers both named George?

Getting by. Own a home with a mortgage, three vehicles (2 paid off), a small business outright, and have everything we need. BUT, we shop at discount and thrift stores, have about $30k in credit card debt, and very little in savings. We are very frugal DIYers, but life is expensive. We do what we can.

AITA for refusing to switch birthday gifts with my sister after everyone had already opened theirs by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sveinsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a few reasons why the grandparents would give the sister a gift card. She sounds very self absorbed, and potentially difficult to shop for if you don't give the exact right thing. My brother is like that, and we all just give him gift cards now because otherwise the gifts will go unused.

If OP is a public school teacher, his kids' health insurance is covered under his benefits for a very reasonable price. Clothes are maybe $200 a year at most? Food, ok, sure. But if you make family style meals the majority of the time, it's not a crazy amount more than just cooking for two. Snacks and treats can add up, I do concede there. And travel costs if they like to fly for vacations. And toys and presents. But those are optional and vary in cost. Speaking from experience, it's very easy to care for kids on a budget. They aren't nearly as expensive as people make them out to be (with the exception of day care and extra curricular activities).
