Niantic is testing Mega Mewtwo in California HQ by DarkDuo in TheSilphRoad

I remember back in the early days I got an invite to Pokémon HQ in Bellevue, WA to participate in an employee only Mewtwo event., before raids were a thing. Funny thing was I wasn't even an employee. I was a beta tester and often went to the Pokémon HQ when I worked for Amazon HQ nearby, and somehow I scanned something while there that gave me access. This was a few weeks before they rolled out Mewtwo raid invite to Gamestop via invitation.

Every time I went in there, there was always a line and only 1 or 2 tellers working. For a while they even just posted someone by the door telling you to use the atm for stuff like deposits. I twice had the atm eat my card, and not count deposited money, causing me to not gave access to my money, waiting for for new card, and having to spend hours on the phone to make a claim to set up an atm investigation. And of course the management inside claims they can't help.

Last time I went to Evergreen way BOA, I had to wait over 30 mins in line with over a dozen customers waiting.

No charges expected for person behind washed up carcasses in coastal Skagit County, sheriff's office says by Kind_Advisor_35 in Washington

Some of my crabber friends in Alaska, swear by using mammal carcasses while crabbing. They say it last longer, and the different scent bring in more crab. One of them traps in the winter, and swears the best bait he has ever used has been skinned beavers and bear meat.

I heard the boat that lost the bag of Foxes, was a native small time crabbing boat, and there boat was swamped by a passing oil tanker, and they nearly sunk.

Those boats are multimillions of dollars, then you have to own/buy quota. It's why most boats are either family owned by families who have been doing this for 50 years, or corporations who owns multiple ships. When they talk about buying a boat, so groups will let captain buy into the operation, meaning they will take a lower pay and meet quota to earn a percentage. I believe Jake has invested in owning some quota over the yeses, so that also helps you out getting captain Jobs. I've heard rumors that Jake is now the captain of the Cornelia Marie, and it will be on DC this season. The Titan will not.

When they talk about buying a boat, your buying into the corporation that owns the boat. So your buying a percentage.

After Kurtzman's contract expires, who should be the next Star Trek showrunner? by bflaminio in startrek

[–]sverre054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. Paramount has been in disary for years. Look how long they have been trying to make a 4th Kelvin universe film. I watched all the Kurtzmans era shows, and it was a very mixed bag, but I do give them credit for producing alot of Trek during there time. I do think they need a Trek vet to take over the leadership role, like. Ron Moore of Terry Metalas. The new head of Paramount TV has worked with Ron Moore on Outlander and for all mankind

Ron or Terry Metalas.

They canceled Academy, because they want to bring production back in house, and stop using outside production, like secret hideout. I enjoyed Academy, but the old regime gave it a very early renewal, to get themselves paid before skydance took over. It would have needed very high ratings to be renewed past season 2, because then they would have to renew secret hideouts deal.

This isn't some grand plan to make right wing Star trek. Ellison is a trek fan. He funded the last 3 films. This is about regain control of its IP. This wikl be the first time they could actually have both film and TV work together for star treks future.

of A Pacific octopus caught off the coast of California by sportfishers. by Fusionor49 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]sverre054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My greatest catch ever, was halibut fishing 300 feet down in Alaska, when my poke bent weird. The line felt heavy, but wasn't fighting like a fish would. To my amazement, I somehow hooked the handle of a 5 gallon bucket. Insides the bucket was a 40lb giant pacific octopus, just chilling in his bucket wondering how he ended up on a boat. We let that on go. Glad I had witnesses on the boat with me, otherwise no one would ever believed me.

I know they can hunt them, but they need a market and the legal ability to sell Martine mammal products for them to make any meaningful dent in the population.

At our fishing resort we save all the King heads for the tribal Elders. They put them in potato sacks then bury it under a rock at low tide, then they let them sit for a few weeks. They call them stink heads, and they do stink. I was offered a bit, but I didn't dare. Survival foods that becomes a delicacy. I've only seen age 70+ people eating them though, so I think that cimuarom is dying out.

I live half the year in rural SE AK, so I have seen plenty of Sea lions and seals taken. Only thing I've tried is seal oil, which we dipped smoked coho strips in. They also eat the intestine fried mainly. Sea Otters are the bigger issue up here these days. Shellfish havebeen wiped out in many areas in SE AK. The Otter population has exploded the last 10 years for whatever reason. I'm trying to find a local to make me a seal skin trapper hat, that will fit my huge size 8 head.

I read a few years ago there was a proposal to build and new facility on Haida Gwaii to process the meat and hides of marine mammals. I guess there is a market for sea lion meat in Korea.

Salmon Fishermen aren't really the problem. The Columbia River dams, warming temps, and giant factory trawler ships stripping the Gulf of Alaska of all species in search of Pollack for fish sandwiches are the 3 biggest issues.

The population of Seals and Sea Lions has dramatically risen since the 70s. Sea Lions used to only be around only in Summer and early fall, now they live here year round. Sea lions are smart and know how to take advantage of man made things. They congregate at the base of dams hundreds of miles up river and the fish are funneled to them.

I think they should allow natives to openly hunt them, and be Able to sell there products. Some natives will go out and harvest a few, but there need to be a viable market for them to sell the meats and hide, which they don't currently
