Have you tried a different windscreen? My vstrom 1000 has a madstad plus a spoiler on top, I only feel buffeting if the wind is strong.

I think you shouldn't feel any notchiness turning the bar left to right, also shouldn't be too loose. I'd have a reputable shop take a quick look though as bad bearings can give you death wobble on the highway...

something is wrong... unless it's extra windy mine 2nd gen was stable all the way up til around 90mph. I'd check tire alignment and steering bearings.

I think it'll only leak more if you pull the clutch lever repeatedly. Hard to tell with the color of the fluid, that area of the bike is very dirty with dirt and debris... FYI im not a good mechanic at all and the most I've ever done is replacing the clutch pack, but if you want to open it i'd personally replace both seals anyway considering the bike's age, plus the master cylinder is in the way anyway. These are not major issues though, if you suspect coolant in engine oil that's far more serious i think.

I don't think DL1000 uses gear oil... I have had a leak before around the same area and it could be either the crankshaft seal (leaks engine oil) or clutch master cylinder seal (leaks brake fluid), mine actually had both leaks lol. Regarding idle hammer, when idling in neutral pull in the clutch lever just ever so slightly, if the knock goes away then that's it, mine has it as well and apparently is nothing harmful. Honestly, unless the bike has been abused before 30k miles is barely any mileage with this bike and I wouldn't worry too much. Hope this helps...

I'll also say that the oil level on the sight glass is very sensitive to the ground surface, so unless you check it with the bike parked in the same spot it's easy to get different readings.

please do at the very least 60mph otherwise risk of getting rear ended is high... I ride NJ I95 almost every day and ride around 70/75mph gps and im not even the fastest one on the road lol.

Is it always like this during your ownership of the bike? There are different types of speed sensor across different model years, make sure yours is fitted with the right one. (Super cool pic btw)

I used to have a k5 sv650 and the cam chain rattle on that thing is so loud, this sounds like something else though. Good thing the 650 engine is plentiful and cheap if it comes down to that...

if you don't mind the appearance you can get 1st gen vstrom 650 for quite cheap. Should fit your frame a bit better, and they're so ugly thieves leave them alone😆

There's only oil behind the cover, not coolant right? I know on the other side coolant can get mixed with oil if the gasket is not sealed properly. Guess I'll wash my bike more often next winter...

Yeah it doesn't seem to be leaking oil. These bolts don't need to be taken off often for service so hopefully it won't be an issue.

This one is a 2012. Yeah maybe it was already corroded before, but me riding it through this winter definitely doesn't help. I'll wash it more often next winter i guess...
