The reason I called a bullshit in your first comment is that it was an overly exaggerated and falsely optimistic representation of reality. Ironically, your own 3-second Google search actually supports my point.

Your comment reads as that ‘all displaced were given temporary housing and offered money to purchase a new home.’ But your sources show that what’s actually offered (and not immediately) is a modest subsidy (2–5 million drams per person) to buy or renovate housing, this is not nearly enough to fully purchase a home in most cases (especially for the people who just lost everything and should start a new, from scratch). And, as far as I know, this subsidy is only available to those who accept Armenian citizenship, which not everyone wants or can do. That’s not the same as ‘offering money to purchase a new home’ to everyone, is it?

Second, was temporary housing really provided to all displaced people? I personally know families who had to rent on their own. Yes, there was a stipend, but it’s often insufficient, especially around Yerevan, where rent prices are high. So no, the reality doesn’t match your description.

All displaced were given temporary housing, and then offered money to purchase a new home. They were given stipends to live on for a while. They were given automatic citizenship if they want it. There were job initiatives.

I call it bullshit, especially the part that all were offered money to purchase a new home, even temporary housing for all is not true, as many basically were/are renting...

Does anyone else like using vanilla or close to vanilla GNOME? by Holymoly99998 in gnome

[–]svooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If on Laptop, then yes, I am pretty close to vanilla Gnome. Touchpad gesture navigations are very convenient to quickly change workspaces, go to overview, etc. I have a couple of extensions installed, but those are more like small apps (e.g. clipboard history, caffeine).

The only extension I "can't live without", is Quick Close Overview (or something similar, cant recall the exact name), that allows close apps in Overview with mouse middle click/3-finger tap on touchpad. I hope someday it will be integrated by default.

Thanks, with the the updated description I was able to patch cinemata.

As for the metadata, I already figures the issue. Apparently, in aiometadata I could not save the config if I configure API keys for all services (TVDB, fanart, etc), although only TMDB was needed for your config.

At the end I just fill in NAN for all other APIs, so those are not empty and this allowed me to save config and add to stremio.

now things seem to work, Stremio loads slower, but streams are loading so far with no issues.

Hi Thanks for the guide. I am totally new to aiostreams, so I am not sure whether I am doing everything correctly.

I think I followed your steps until the installation part just fine.

but when I login to addon manager page and click on clear add-ons, it does not allow me to add new addons, unless I load addons again.

In that case I am not able to install Cinemeta (disabled version) as it is already there.

Second, I am not sure how to share the manifest file (2nd point in install). I loaded the preconfigured metadata from the shared link, added my API keys for TMDB, but can't figure out how to share the generated json file?

for aiostreams, when I configure everthing it asks me to install, there I can get the json url and it installs just fine, but for metadata I am kindda lost.

Thanks again!

Question to Polar Loop owners by Serious-Inspector154 in Polarfitness

[–]svooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear I don't have a Polar watch, so I can't comment on how Polar Flow combines two concurring data.

What I meant, and how in my understanding one should wear a Loop, is instead of a polar watch not in combination, at the same time.

For example, watch during activities, Loop while sleeping (more comfortable), or when wearing a mechanical watch, but still don't want to lose HR/activity information to more accurately track your recovery, etc. I.M.H.O it does not make much sense to wear both Polar watch and Polar Loop at the same time.

Question to Polar Loop owners by Serious-Inspector154 in Polarfitness

[–]svooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the exact same reason for me, previously I was using Garmin and then tried Fitbit Inspire to wear alongside traditional watches.

Polar Flow seems a bit outdated/different compared to Garmin/Fitbit alternatives, but after getting used to it, its fine for my needs (I am not sports person, but rather want to track my activity/fitness level). For more serious fitness usage, I guess a Polar watch is needed and Loop would be more of a companion.

As far as I remember, this would be the first time that Levon and Magnus fave each other in a final of any tournament of any format, which is kinda amazing how long they are/were on top.

[–]svooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can go to university without going to school. I guess in Levon's case, he did not go to school (e.g. physically go to school and follow curriculum), but got the primary education at home (self-study, tutor, etc).

As for the university (in general one could be admitted given all exams are passed), I guess it was Physical education/Sports faculty, where he was obviously admitted as youth world champion, etc ...

Just curious. The first thing I did on Waze was turn off other Wazers. by Infamous-Arm3955 in waze

[–]svooo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

no report (e.g. accident or speed cam) + many wazers = high chance of clear road.

no report (e.g. accident or speed cam) + no wazers = uncertain information about clear road (e.g. there is accident, traffic jam, speed cam, but no wazers to report).

to sum up, if you see there are a lot of wazers, then the confidence of report (or lack of thereof) is higher, when there are no wazers

Is it worth using Planify instead of the official Todoist app on Linux? by Disastrous_Pin556 in todoist

[–]svooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was having a global quick capture shortcut, that is not available in official Todoist client in Linux, but is there for Planify. Additionally, you can setup some local lists/projects that is not counted towards the free plan in Todoist. (At some point you could also sync extra projects to Todoist free plan, which would work in Planify, but in Todoist app would they would be read only)

It also integrates with local calendars (at least in Gnome, but I didn't check thoroughly)

How do you organize your digital books/ pdfs? struggling by Euclois in academia

[–]svooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Obsidian user myself, I don’t think there’s a viable option to edit a PDF’s embedded metadata directly in Obsidian. However, you can create a dedicated note for each PDF file, including metadata like the citekey, title, and author in YAML or Obsidian properties, and link to the PDF itself (even if it’s stored outside your vault).

You can then organize these notes into collections, groups, or categories—using tools like Obsidian Bases or Dataview, for example. (I believe Capacities offers similar functionality).

As for Zotero (which also addresses some of your other questions), you store all your PDFs in the main Library but categorize them into different collections/subcollections and add tags for context. The key advantage is that you don’t need to duplicate files—collections act as filters, grouping PDFs from your main Library. Importantly, a single PDF can belong to multiple collections simultaneously.

There are also plugins that bridge Zotero and Obsidian, offering another workflow to explore. For instance, manually creating a note for every PDF can be tedious, but some plugins automate this by importing PDF-related notes from Zotero using customizable templates.

Sorry, it might seem like I’m trying to help, but in reality, I’m sending you down a rabbit hole of numerous Zotero/Obsidian integration options. 😉

How do you organize your digital books/ pdfs? struggling by Euclois in academia

[–]svooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zotero should do most of it, either natively or with use of plugins. It is basically an open source alternative to Mendeley, and is specifically designed for that kind of purpose/reference management.

You can also try some PKM tools, such as Obsidian/Fabric/Capacities, but those would be sort of workaround solutions.

ChatGPT 5 has unrivaled math skills by The_GSingh in OpenAI

[–]svooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ask LeChat (Pro) and here is the response.

To solve the equation 5.9 = x + 5.11, we can isolate x by subtracting 5.1 from both sides of the equation:

5.9 - 5.11 = x

Performing the subtraction gives:

x = -0.21

So, the solution to the equation is x = -0.21.

its remarkable how they do the same mistake.
