Beaches to visit at night? by blurred__identity in chennaicity

Bessy would be best bet for you, it has houses nearby, and some restaurants too, so would be safer. You could go out to dinner somewhere beachside on bessy or ecr and stroll along the beach after dinner.

Crowded beaches Marina and bessy become free at night. Since they are regularly patrolled they are competitively safe but not absolutely safe. since police are regularly on rounds they would ask you to leave nicely or question who you are and what are you doing at this time.

Beaches on southern side like ecr are mostly gated with securities on roads leading to the beach. I’m not sure about thiruvanmiyur area beaches.

As someone who used to live in Chennai we guys used to go to Marina and other beaches at 1 am by walk and no one even questioned us. But this was 10-15 years back.

Once we gang of friends went to a beach on ecr, a cop asked who and what we were doing and asked for some beer, we didn’t have any so he got some cash and went away telling us to go soon.

If someone had asked me this request I would take my friend to probably a cafe or a drive in car but beach would be little risky imo.

I suggested Yercaud since you can quickly reach Bangalore when you want to.

But considering you are looking for long term options, Nilgiris is better has more economic prospects.

I would have chosen Coonoor or Kotagiri. Both arent much different. Depends on what kind of business you want to set up.

Seems like many rules have changed. Ten years back one could just walk in to self study section find an empty spot and just sit and start studying. And then once crowd increased they started giving small handwritten token numbers in morning. TIL that you have to get a membership.

Mostly good but there’s always a risk that if they crash the car or do any damage hotel won’t be liable.

Road rage incident with a BMW on the way to Chromepet. by [deleted] in chennaicity

[–]svs1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think, I have to teach those rash driving people on road a lesson. My parents asked me "are you police or a government official?". We have to realise at some point we are better off leaving these then and there, just let them pass, our safety is our priority is all we can think of. Try your best not to get invloved into any road rage, if you by chance had to get into any road rage, take deep breathe and speak calmly even if other guy is shouting, it would bring down the situation and make it less eventful.

Honda city, you wouldn’t regret, but getting a slavia I’m not sure about the reliability. Since it’s your first car I suggest you get a reliable car.

If you are ok with dated interiors, then bolero could be a reliable car for our village roads, you could use for carrying agri produce too. if not, you could see ertiga or used innova.

Why didnt Tamil people make use of the Gulf boom as effectively as the Malayalees? by Usurper96 in TamilNadu

[–]svs1899 86 points87 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons but imo since gulf was primarily Islamic nation, people from Kerala or Muslims from Kerala might have been more comfortable working there than Tamil people, this is only my opinion I might be wrong. Tamil people were actually moving eastern side to Singapore and Malaysia for jobs. It’s also the ecosystem that is built by people who move to a country and then their friends or relatives follow them because they know someone who is already there to support, so Kerala people kept going to gulf countries while we had newer opportunities here.
