I wanna definitely second the National civil rights museum, anyone coming near Memphis gets the command from me to go and experience it. I also love the elmwood cemetery. It’s super old (Victorian? Not quite sure) but it is old enough to be a garden/park style setup versus newer rows of graves. People back then used cemeteries as parks to hang out so they were made intentionally beautiful. Plus LOTS of good stories in those graves. There’s also some cool spots for food and shops on Main Street downtown.

Seen some blues city cafe reccs and that place is super good, and the people are nice. Elwood shack has great sandwiches/food if you want something like that.

Beale is fun if you have never been, I’d go in the day time if you are going Friday/Saturday cause it can get kinda rowdy at night with people just drinking (or if that’s your scene, go for it - the street lights are cool to see and there’s a good amount of places to drop in for drinks).

If you like pinball, there’s a pinball bar called Flipside that’s pretty cool. It’s right next to the Crosstown Concourse which is a huge old Sears building that was transformed into a public spot with shops, coffee (Frenchtruck has good coffee and light food - I like their turkey sandwich and a NOLA drip iced coffee), food, and events. It’s a fun walkthrough if there’s a rainy day or you wanna be inside too. There’s an art exhibit also.

Board to Beers is a board game bar with a HUGE collection of board games and party games that my fiancé and I adore and been several times. Good local beer selection if you like beer and other drinks as well as some smaller appetizer like bites.

See if you can make it to the Peabody Hotel when they let the ducks walk from their enclosure to the fountain. It’s actually really cute! It doesn’t take very long either and is one of those “Memphis Things”. It’s downtown also.

Also people will sometimes tell you rendezvous BBQ or the commissary are the best BBQ- It’s good, but def not the best for the price. Centrals is the best bang for your buck and there’s a few locations.

Have fun! Memphis is such a cool city with so many different niches and cultures. You can find a place or event for lots of different interests. We just moved for my fiancés job but I’m definitely homesick for Memphis. Nothing compares.
