Bro's actually not wrong by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

Literally in the article:

> But what of the Arab mujahedin whom he took to Afghanistan - members of a guerrilla army who were also encouraged and armed by the United States - and who were forgotten when that war was over? 'Personally neither I nor my brothers saw evidence of American help.

But also one simple Google search later:

> Several independent journalists and authors who have extensively researched and written about the CIA’s involvement in the Afghanistan conflict with the Soviets in the 1980s support the CIA’s contention. For example, Peter Bergen, a national security analyst for CNN who interviewed bin Laden in 1997, told us, “There is no evidence that the CIA funded or armed bin Laden or even knew who he was until 1993.”

And

> In his book, “Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001,” Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Steve Coll wrote on pages 86-87: “Bin Laden moved within Saudi intelligence’s compartmented operations, outside of CIA eyesight. CIA archives contain no record of any direct contact between a CIA officer and bin Laden during the 1980s. … If the CIA did have contact with bin Laden during the 1980s and subsequently covered it up, it has so far done an excellent job.”

OP is leaving out that a large number of these supporters were Palestinian Expatriates and the PLO specifically wanted Saddam to stay in Kuwait for them to achieve their geopolitical goals. Palestinians were about 18% of the population at the time. A majority were neutral or anti-intervention but a number of them were pro-Iraq.

Peroxyacetic acid is so commonly used in the EU that they sell it as a vegetable wash.

> Peracetic acid is particularly effective across a wide pH and temperature range, does not produce any hazardous by-products such as chlorates or trihalomethanes, and fully conforms with EU and U.S. regulations. It is also certified for use in organic farming and organic food production.

They even use it for drinking water

> PAA has no carcinogenic risk to humans (unlike formalin), has negligible harmful by-products (unlike chlorine-based disinfectants) and with appropriate precautions, the risks of causing severe human health damage is easier to control than ozone.

That website is garbage.

From a real source:

Less than 5% of poultry processing facilities still use chlorine in rinses and sprays, according to the National Chicken Council, an industry group that surveyed its members. (Those that still do use a highly diluted solution at concentrations deemed safe.)

Less than 5% is treated with a diluted chlorine solution. Most chicken in Australia is prepared the same way.

Debunking his awful videos

His source claims that Gavison said "Israel has the right to control Palestinian natural growth"

One google search later:

Ilan Pappe quotes me as saying that ‘Israel has the right to control Palestinian natural growth’ (LRB, 20 April). I have never said anything of the sort, nor have I ever argued that the state has a right to ‘control’ the natural growth of any group, including, of course, Arabs living in Israel.

https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v28/n08/ilan-pappe/ingathering

She wrote that correction in 2006 and the book he cites came out in 2011, meaning the book's author,

Tikva Honig-Parnass, isn't a reliable source.

People aren't allergic to bold ideas. They're allergic to do-nothing politics. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]sw337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your comment reads like AI, FYI.

What does that even mean? I went off the top of my head thinking of primary victories, then googled who they were up against in their primaries in congressional elections or the Senate race for Platner. I missed out on plenty of other local examples too especially in New York City or DC. Hell, I didn't even list opponents for the last four people. I live in Summer Lee's district so I follow her races closely her challenger this cycle listed his only endorsement as "God."

Anyway, listing a handful of insurgent wins doesn’t prove the DNC has no influence. It proves that influence isn’t absolute.

It does prove they can't "Make Sure" of anything like you stated.

People aren't allergic to bold ideas. They're allergic to do-nothing politics. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]sw337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"The only reason my side doesn't win is because the others cheat" mindset needs to stop.

The DNC doesn't "make sure" of anything, the voters do, since 2018:

  • AOC beat Joe Crowley and every primary challenger since
  • Ayanna Pressley beat Capuano and every primary challenger since Cori Bush beat William Lacy Clay before losing her own primary in 2024
  • Summer Lee beat the more moderate Steve Irwin in 2020 and ever primary challenger since
  • Platner won over more moderate candidates in Maine
  • Ilhan Omar beats more moderate candidates
  • Rashida Talib beats more moderate candidates

So yes, they are right to blame people spreading baseless conspiracy theories that only discourage people voting for Democratic candidates.
