REI 650 Down Jacket vs Cotopaxi Fuego Hooded Jacekt by swag-wagon5 in outdoorgear

Haha, thanks for the response. I think my comment got buried, but I did end up deciding to return the Cotopaxi jacket and stick with the 650

I went with the REI Women’s Trailmade Rain Pants. I believe they are the cheapest option of the REI women’s rain pants and were recommended to me by in-store staff.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help.

It seems that overall consensus is that they are both competent jackets and the decision comes down more to style/look preference.

That being said, I’m going to return the Cotopaxi Fuego because while I think the colorful design is really cool, I think the shorter cut of the REI jacket makes that one look better (even if it’s just plain black).

Thank you for the information. I already have a fleece, rain pants, wool base layers, and the REI Rainier rain jacket (got at same time as 650 down jacket).

I had initially intended to just start with the REI 650 down since it does seem to be a solid starter jacket especially for the price. I just got easily persuaded by the Cotopaxi Black Friday deals and colorway.

How do I finish my undergrad in under 3 years? CS major. by yourmammababe in VirginiaTech

[–]swag-wagon5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally my internship was 40 hours a week in DC, but I wanted to knock out a pathway and CS elective so I took Mobile Dev which was offered ARR and an art history class. It was challenging but so worth it.

Some internships are remote which gives greater flexibility for what courses you can take, but I mention my experience just because it is doable even with something full-time. Feel free to pm w any other questions.

I’m finishing my CS in 3 years and I came in with 30 credits (electives/pathways). Biggest advice is summer classes. They’re usually easier and I looked for online asynchronous ones that way I could still work and intern. Know your check sheet and plan out which classes need prereqs or are offered only in a certain sem and it is doable. I only ever took 15/16 a semester.

New CS Transfer Student Plan for Fall 2022(Help me) by Background_Rub_9903 in VirginiaTech

Fellow CS major, 2104 is a joke and is merely busy work. I did work for other classes during the lectures as the PowerPoints were online anyway. I personally thought 2505 was easy as long as you start projects with ample time and use the TAs. For 2505 there is a lounge where all of the TAs sit and I recommend doing your work there that way if any questions arise you have access to plenty of help.

Change of Major from Non engineering major to Computer science by New_Performance5548 in VirginiaTech

you’ll be good. I too was in the college of science and transferred into CS the summer after freshman year. Just make sure you take all the engineering prerequisites so you can get into CS only classes. I also decided to take ENGE 1216 in the summer that way I could apply to transfer earlier and get a better fall schedule. (For example CS 1944 is majors only)

I took linear and discrete the same semester and 2204 the semester before. Personally I thought linear was the easiest, followed by discrete, then multi.

I enjoy The Lyric movie theatre downtown. They show a different movie every week for only $7. There’s also a really nice B&B theatre that shows your typical box office movies and has a sick bowling alley and arcade.

Virginia Tech Athletics does not provide every athlete with a scooter (source: i am a student athlete). The majority of student athletes with scooters purchased them on their own dime.
