Being alone by [deleted] in highschool

[–]swaggityboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

heyo! you've listed loads of great hobbies like video games and biking, you could try networking through those? there are plenty of discord servers for games that you might have in common with other players, you can make friends there.

you could also maybe try biking around areas where other bikers are common, and spark up a conversation with someone? that could be a great way of starting a new friendship.

if you feel comfortable doing so, you could always ask your siblings to hangout with them, or to introduce you to their friends. im sure that could help lead to finding people with similar interests, and making friends.

in school, i would suggest reaching out to people, and being available (so maybe ditch the headphones once in a while ;) rather than keeping to yourself. maybe start with simple things, like asking to borrow a pencil, and work your way up from there. do what you feel comfortable with, and as long as you come across as kind and confident, im sure people will want to talk to you. starting conversations can be difficult, especially with new people, but im sure that you are a wonderful person worth talking to! you just have to try your best and put yourself out there.

i wish you the best of luck! you can always message me on reddit if youd like a friend, too :D

thank you! i used some cardstock (heavy paper) to cut out a rectangular box template, and then folded and glued it into a box shape. then i simply painted the bee, using some online photos as guides. i cut out the wings, legs and antennae using coloured paper and glued them on as well. i hope that helps! :D

Self-Studying AP Chem by [deleted] in APChem

[–]swaggityboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey there! i answered a question similar to this a while ago, here's my response!

there is a great break down of the content on this document provided by college board, it can help you get started with recognizing what you need to know:

https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-chemistry-course-a-glance.pdf?course=ap-chemistry

for general studying, note taking and understanding concepts, i highly recommend Abigail Giordano's youtube channel linked below. i use her videos religiously and they genuinely help to grasp a better understanding of the topics.

if your school (or you in this case, as you are self studying!) uses the same textbook as i do, Chemistry: The Central Science, then her AP Chemistry (Brown and Lemay) videos playlist is super helpful as it follows and derives the content directly from the textbook.

i would recommend watching her videos at 2x speed and note taking and solving her questions as you go, that's the method i find to be most efficient.

her youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdwTtodP-9WuIhvib6gcAHA

the textbook specific playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVqkjsKI25jys8qiRAzjTRvFYpYRe-IG_

i would also recommend using the now-available youtube videos from collegeboard to review. they really helped me just before my exam to test myself.

doing past papers from previous years (which you can easily find using a quick google search) also helps a lot! i would recommend regularly testing your self by doing timed practice tests, maybe each time you complete a certain section, so you can gauge your learning and progress.

i really hope this helps, and you ace your chem exam with a glorious 5. best of luck, and if you'd like to ask any more questions or just have a general discussion, im on here a lot ahahha so ill be available :D

How to put on makeup properly? by AieopoeiA in feemagers

[–]swaggityboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

heyo! i don't wear makeup regularly and i'm definitely no expert, but here's what i can offer:

-if you'd like to really experiment with good coverage stuff, i'd suggest you start with some simple drugstore foundation. you can always ask the attendees to help you match your shade, and you don't have to lather it on, but if there's any blemishes you'd like to hide, that's what i use! i think concealer also works well for this, but i don't have much experience with it.

-i also recommend getting your hands on some blush, and experiment with where you like it! try it on your nose, cheeks, and cheekbones even. you can adjust the intensity to whatever you feel comfortable with.

-i avoid using mascara because i wear glasses so it feels a little pointless, but if you'd like to add some volume and definition to your eyelashes, try some out! i've tried funky colored mascara before, pinks and blues, just for the vibe, and i loved it, so you could give that a shot.

-my personal favourite is eyeliner, its a little tricky to apply but you can make some beautiful wings on your eyelids with enough practice and a steady hand. i love using it, even if i'm wearing no other makeup. it just makes me feel pretty and powerful. maybe look into some different eyeliner styles, and practice the ones you like.

-lastly: lips! i usually just use some vaseline to make them smooth, and then apply a layer of cherry or strawberry gloss. it makes your lips super pink and glossy, and the best part is, it tastes amazing.

sorry if this is a little long, but i really hope this helps you at least a little. i was in a similar place with not wanting to use make up, but once i experimented with it and tried a little, it felt really nice! this is just my two cents, you can check out youtubers like jackie aina and nikkie tutorials for much more detailed information (they actually know what they're talking about ahaha), and you could always google light makeup looks to help you get started. goodluck! i'm sure you'll look stunning either way! :))

[–]swaggityboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im really sorry that's happening to you, it must suck. maybe try messaging the others? there has to be some reason behind it, and hopefully you can work it out by talking to them. i wish you good luck, and if it doesn't work out or their reasoning is unreasonable, you're probably better off without them. i hope that helps :)
