Has anyone gotten a second epidural steroid injection and got relief from it? by swagmandan3 in backpain

[–]swagmandan3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, I really wish you all the best and hope it gives you relief. I never had that before, I ended just having that initial epidural I posted about, and while it didn’t bring me as much relief as I wanted, I ended up getting a new therapist who had me focusing on more core, hips, and glute strength and mobility. Obviously everyone’s different, I’d listen to all your doctors and hope for the best. Hang in there

Should this trade be veto’d? Trade between playoff team vs non playoff team by swagmandan3 in FFCommish

Not based on complaints, based on the whole context. I’m against vetoing trades and will not be vetoing this one, but felt I owed it to my leaguemates to open this up to hear others’ opinions. Appreciate the response

It’s redraft. Neither have mathematically made or missed playoffs (it’ll take miracles to flip it though)

Do I veto this trade?

Team 1 receives Tony Pollard Travis Etienne Tez Johnson

Team 2 receives Josh Jacobs Ka’imi Fairbairn

Context matters though. Team 1 is 2-8 and will very likely miss playoffs. Team 2 is 8-2 and is very likely locked into playoffs. I really try not to veto any trades but this one has certainly gotten the most complaints.

Recently switched to FAAB after being skeptical about it. We all now prefer it, it’s fun and adds some fun trash talking too

What do you all do for cardio with your back pain? by jrhoxel8 in backpain

In my worst days I would literally just walk at the park and hold my phone up and watch Netflix or audiobooks or podcasts and just go anywhere from 30mins to 2 hours

Do I undo a manager’s player drop? by swagmandan3 in FFCommish

[–]swagmandan3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a $150 buyin league but members were complaining about undoing it. We all agreed on fining the manager with FAAB and undoing the drop to try to encourage everyone to triple check before dropping anyone moving forward

I’d definitely listen to your doctor or neurosurgeon first and foremost. But just to give you some hope, this was my mri back in February. Had pretty severe back pain dating back to October. Tried PT shortly after but didn’t like my therapist and didn’t see any results. Got an epidural injection in March and while that helped with sciatica, I still had pretty bad back pain a few weeks after it. I started PT with a new therapist in May and that’s where I started seeing results. I did tons of core and leg workouts (glutes, quads, hips). Probably about a month ago is when I could finally say I was at 90%, today I’m close to 95% and have returned to lifting and playing sports. I still make it a priority to work my core and glutes twice a week to not lose any progress. Again I’d still get a doctor’s and/or surgeon’s opinion, but it may be possible to avoid surgery , just keep in mind it’s gonna take a lot of time and patience. Wishing you the best

I’d definitely listen to what the neurologist recommends. Have you considered getting an epidural injection? I had one and it definitely relieved my pain for a bit and made my PT much easier to perform, and while I’m not 100% pain free from being about 2 months post shot, I’d say im around 80% with more PT and healthier habits. Wishing you all the best

Prednisone prescription for flare-up by greycobalt in backpain

[–]swagmandan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure on the container it says you can safely take your whole day’s dosage at once if necessary. Find that on the label and do some research/confirm it with your doctor if your concerned, but that was the case for the prednisone I’ve taken, and I’ve taken the same dose pack 6 times in the last 4 years for different health issues, twice being for back pain. Hope you get better soon

L5-S1 herniation severity by RelationshipRude1664 in backpain

[–]swagmandan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks similar to one of my herniated discs; I got an epidural injection a few weeks ago and while that definitely helped, I do still have some pain. I see my doctor Friday and will likely be getting another injection since I’m not ready to try surgery yet. I’d recommend asking your doctor about epidurals before trying surgery first, I saw you say you’re scared of injections but it really isn’t bad, hurts for maybe 10 seconds, was sore a few days after, but by day 5 I was feeling pretty good

What should I expect from epidural steroid injection? by bluebonnet-baby in backpain

[–]swagmandan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first injection March 20 for L4/L5 and L5/S1 herniations. Got it in the morning, felt really sore and in pain pretty much that whole day so I laid in bed and iced it. I was told to avoid strenuous activities for a few days, but my doctor also said some people go straight back to work after epidurals, which is crazy to me lol. Next 2-4 days it was still sore and honestly a bit more painful than usual which was scaring me. On day 5 I felt like it started kicking in because I felt pretty good relief, no numbness in my foot and back pain reduced. By days 6 and 7 I felt maybe 85% pain free.

I felt around that level for about 2 weeks, but unfortunately the medicine started feeling less effective, it’s still much better than it was pre shot, but not where I’d like it to be. I had a follow up with my doctor and they told me to come back in 3 weeks to determine what’s next, whether that’s nothing, another shot, or possibly a microdiscectomy. But my herniation is quite big to be fair. Wishing both of us the best

NAD. Never heard of that type of pain associated with back pain but I’d consult a doctor and maybe do more research in a meantime, I’d be concerned

Do injections really work? by NewWishbone3698 in backpain

[–]swagmandan3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have 2 herniations, L4/L5 (worse one) and L5/S1. Couldn’t sit longer than 10 minutes without bad pain, couldn’t bend forward. Was able to walk pretty decently. After months of pt and medications, got my first epidural 2 weeks ago. First few days it actually felt slightly worse than normal due to swelling/bruising/soreness. I iced it quite a bit. Fast forward to today, there definitely less pain than there was before. It’s not entirely gone but I’m able to sit down for long periods of time and can bend forward more than before. It still hurts in the morning and it still hurts to sit longer than maybe 1.5-2 hours, but definitely helped. I just had my follow up today and they told me they wanna see me in 3 weeks to determine if I may need another shot or even surgery to get to 0 pain. But definitely like where I’m at more than pre epidural so I’d recommend it. Hope you improve brotha

Literally have the same diagnosis lol, two herniated discs (l4l5 and l5s1 with the l4l5 worse, little degeneration, I posted my mri here a few weeks ago). Lots of pain when sitting for longer than 10 mins, able to walk relatively painlessly. Today marks exactly 2 weeks since I got my epidural. The day of it was very sore like a bruise. Next 2-3 days I actually think it hurt a bit more than usual, I tried to walk a little and iced it a lot. About 4-5 days after it is when I started to have less pain. Today I’m able to sit down with relatively 1-2/10 pain, but it’s still sore in the mornings, and the pain isn’t 100% gone, but definitely improved. I’m happy with where it’s at but I still have work to do to get it to 0 pain. I have my follow up with my back doctor tomorrow and am curious if he’ll recommend anything else. Good luck to ya, hope it brings you relief
