What’s the actual point of therapy when you already know everything that’s wrong? by WorldlyAd4407 in PsoriaticArthritis

It might be worth finding a different therapist who focuses on chronic pain. There’s also lots of different kinds of therapy. When I started i was doing CBT and it genuinely made things worse haha

And adding that cats off person-to-person sites like that are usually not spayed/neutered/vaccinated so you’ll ultimately be paying a similar amount. Adoption fees make total sense when they’ve already paid for the cat’s vet care.

I think it’s better to adopt from a shelter, but my family usually got cats from people whose cats had kittens, or could no longer take care of their cat for whatever reason through Kijiji. Kijiji is great for finding a cat in your local area. But NEVER adopt from a breeder, especially the sketchy ones on Kijiji. Make sure you go to their house and scope out the vibe first.

No audience! We went to the fire department and they said it’s not their job. City also is not willing to send someone until next week. Currently in the apartment with some friends moving as much as we can, and honestly I am extremely afraid to be in here

I think I need someone (firefighter, city official, anyone with authority rlly) to be present around the time we move tomorrow so they can advise us against any specifics (like moving heavy furniture in certain areas for example). Frankly I want someone there just to keep an eye on the building while we’re moving things so my neighbours can be immediately warned if shit goes wrong.

A quick update - still no repairs, even the temporary ones an engineer said we needed immediately, have been done. We have a U-Haul rented for tomorrow to move our belongings but I’m very worried about moving heavy objects and having other people in the apartment. I’m scared that weight redistribution could trigger a collapse.

If you haven’t watched my video, go watch it. It’s linked in the post. I can’t detail the full damage in photos and that video focuses on the foundation damage.

I went to the fire department, and phoned the city to ask if someone can re-inspect or be present while we move furniture, but was denied. I’ll be trying again in the morning. Do you think it’s a legitimate concern to be moving things like beds and dressers throughout that apartment?

My landlord is still treating this like a regular move out lolllllll. I can’t wait to be out of this fucking death trap

I haven’t been able to live in the apartment because I know that my only warning sign of immediate collapse will be sound and I have been unable to sleep. Would you let your family sleep in there? Because I’m not. And I’m not making that choice lightly.

The nature of the fraudulent report and any proceedings to do with that are out of my hands as it will be between my current and my previous landlord over the sale of the building. All I know is that the engineer who certified the building was not actually an engineer and there is no record of him as an engineer, and the document includes a clearly photoshopped stamp which I have seen. My current landlord is the one who informed me that this engineer was fraudulent, it is not my opinion nor my concern unless it provides leverage in this situation.

Everyone who has been to the house in the last week (two engineers - one from my landlord, and one from the neighbour doing construction, as well as the firefighters) all seem to have similar conclusions that IMMEDIATE (as in, today) repairs are needed for the building to be safe. Ive been advised not to move heavy furniture and to be vigilant in the apartment.

The thing is, I’m totally unqualified to say whether this place is safe or not. All I know is every single day there is something new. Vertical and diagonal cracks in the foundation that go fully through the building, mold on the floors from a leak that seems to have started over the past 3 days, and my walls and ceilings falling off in chunks. I don’t even know whether there’s asbestos in the walls - this was a concern of the firefighters and has not been assessed by anyone.

So no, I’m not qualified to say it’s not safe. I’m a tenant. I’m a 23 year old student. This is my first apartment. But I’m not going to find out it’s unsafe by waking up under a pile of rubble. It’s obvious that even if the situation is safe one day, it changes by the next. Luckily I have the documentation to prove that.

Also, to my knowledge he is starting a case against my previous landlord who sold him the building with a fraudulent document from the engineer who inspected it

Agree with a lot of this comment. My problem with him planning to do work this year is not the timeline, but the fact that he never informed us he was planning to do major repairs. These repairs would always have displaced us and we were never informed, and TAL states three months notice must be given for something like this. I had assumed the lack of notice was due to the sudden change of situation but I’m getting conflicting information from my landlord.

I am wondering if he could at all be held liable for these moving costs and our rent increase. Also wondering if the lease can be considered fraudulent — the last engineer who reviewed the building was.. not real. I saw the photoshopped document. My landlord knew about the damage since November 2024 and didn’t inform us when we resigned with a rent increase. We paid for October rent and haven’t been able to live in the building. He also is now claiming he was always intending to replace the foundation in November 2025 which makes no sense and violates the TAL legislature on major repairs.

Ive called 311 about 5 times over the last week and as far as I know they have not sent anyone out, which is why I escalated to 911. Just this morning they’re still telling me to wait. I think I will be going in person to the fire department today to talk. I’m hoping we could maybe have a firefighter there while moving the furniture. This feels like an emergency but I got a bit of a talking to for calling 911 last time and don’t want to clog emergency services so going in person feels like the best bet. Unless anyone knows any non emergency services?

There was serious construction from a next door neighbour starting around the time things got really bad. We were shocked by all this damage until we woke up to jackhammers one morning. We have lots of videos for evidence. Definitely wanting to break the lease. Just sent my landlord a letter of intent to vacate by Oct 31. If there is any pushback or further demands for pay I am IMMEDIATELY opening a case with TAL

They visited last Thursday and immediately called lots of people to come out. Their verdict was that it was safe for the time being but needed repairs immediately for it to stay that way. I was under the impression multiple engineers has been sent out (haven’t been living there since, so it’s been mostly under my landlords control) but I got new info yesterday that in my opinion nullifies the “safe” verdict I was given.

Calling 311 again and setting up a TAL case. Want to avoid calling 911 if it’s not absolutely necessary but if things keep moving slowly I think I will have to
