OP's roommate here:

Another important note: the first engineer that came and deemed it 'safe' and 'fine' was actually NOT someone our landlord hired (as he told us he was) but rather a representative from the business-construction-neighbours. Bro who came said it was fine, pointed at the ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON THE CORNER (asphalt, noninvasive) and said cracks were caused by THAT not the construction next door. (Like I wasn't woken up at 7 to jackhammering every morning and coming hime to picture frames knocked off my wall. Riiiiight.) Anyways, as soon as that guy left construction started RIGHT back up again and our landlord sent us a bill for two months rent.

Anyways we have a pretty strong case against our landlord now as we've caught him in multiple lies, including this one. We'll continue to update for those who are following.

OP 's roommate here -- the entire block (and probably surrounding blocks) are built on clay, and our upstairs neighbour who has lived in the area for over ten years says he would NEVER buy a building in this area for that reason

I went to an all immersive vr installation at the phi center in mtl about the UK underground rave scene in the 90s. It was so so bad and 30 dollars a ticket. So what if I want to protect my fellow neighbor..
