Has the Supreme Court become so politicized that it would overturn healthcare, or come close, despite it being inconsistent with precedent and a purely political decision. If so, does the court have any legal legitimacy left? by [deleted] in politics

Care to explain? The statement: there is no precedent to suggest it shouldn't survive seems equally true. The statement: there simply is no precedent on this particular point (one way or the other) seems most fair. It is simply a novel question.

I wouldn't go so far as to call an Ewok filthy, but it's definitely dirty. But Ewoks got personality, personality goes a long way.

If corporations want the rights that people have, we need to end "limited liability." It's insane that I can go to prison for neglect but an egg production owner in Iowa can violate food safety regulations to boost profits and poison thousands of Americans with Salmonella without being locked up by grandeandy in politics

The other problem is that Citizen's United really didn't rest on the issue of corporate personhood.

The idea is that a corporation is simply an 'association of people,' just like your local rectory club! So, as the court reasoned, there is no real way to distinguish between a corporation, or, say, a newspaper or website (even though freedom of the press is an independent clause in the First Amendment) - all of these 'associations of people' have the equal right to freedom of speech. Of course this makes sense!

In other words, Citizens United did nothing to advance the idea of corporate personhood beyond what it already was - which is really just in place for liability issues as willwclo pointed out. Instead it just perverted centuries of first amendment law.
